The 3DS’s AR Cards are completely different from Skylanders.
@Jarkes
Egh…The Legend of Spyro games are playable, but they are nowhere near as enjoyable as the original trilogy, or A Hero’s Tail.
The first one was really shit. Gameplay was boring “mash A until it dies”, and the story was really, really stupid and had several points where contrived events just HAPPEN with no explanation whatsoever. Like literally none. I’m serious; when you get Ice Breath in the game…Spyro literally just suddenly breathes ice breath out of nowhere and it’s never explained or mentioned. Who the fuck wrote this shit?
The second one was a bit better, but still more of the same “mash A until it dies” gameplay. It’s only a minor improvement over the first game. From what I heard, they rushed this game out to have it ready for the Wii or something. Also, there are at least three bosses in the game that are completely recycled from the first game. Literally, the same exact boss AI and attacks, etc, but a different character. Laaazzzyyy….
The third one was the best of the trilogy, but still just “okay”. They improved the combat a great deal, put in lots and lots of secrets and collectibles(which the first two games severely lacked), and fixed most of the problems that the first two games had. It had a lot more to do than just “mash A until it dies”, especially when it came to the boss fights and big events in the game. Also, some of the levels were open-ended, allowing for exploration, which is done by flying! Yes, for the first time since Gnasty’s Loot, you can freely fly around everywhere in some of the normal stages.
Don’t bother with the first two, just play the third one. Also, don’t expect anything similar to the old Spyro games; Legend of Spyro series is a God of War-esque action/combat game.
All right, I guess my information was faulty. But then again, when his name isn’t even in the title anymore, it’s not really a Spyro game anymore (cough Rabbids cough)…
Speaking of which, are the “Legend of Spyro” games by Sierra any good? Like, gameplay wise, not story wise. I’ve heard people say that the story is pretty good, but I’ve heard mixed things on the actual gameplay.
(Watch as this thread gets derailed into talking about Spyro)
@Jarkes
They didn’t start the AR thing, “The Eye of Judgment” was a PS3 game out in late 2007 using cards for a battle game.
And what did the 3DS have?
AR cards.
Especially since you can’t even play as Spyro in later Skylanders games, even if you have the original figurine (which is another stupid gimmick that seems to be all the rage these days; heck, even Nintendo’s getting in on the action, which come to think of it is the first time that they personally haven’t started a popular marketing gimmick trend in games in a while)…
@Zennistrad
True, but their is a difference between adding a spicy, kinky twist and being as sexy as hearing you’re grandparents talk dirty to each other. ech!
Ah, Catwoman: a film that claims to be feminist, but you only need to look at a few seconds of it to tell that it’s actually really, REALLY sexist. Was Zack Snyder involved or something?

I know it is from the show.
It just has no identity
My mistake…
It’s the cat that Shy showed to Dash in May the Best Pet Win and was in the group of cat Daring Doo runs into.
Skylanders isn’t Augmented Reality…
the cat is from the show
How great

I think Skylanders is what made it POPULAR, though…

Whatcha talkin’ about? All the Skylanders are playable in later games. I use Spyro all the time.

To be fair, Catwoman has pretty much always been about that.
Sounds similar to Activision making a generic hack&slash game and then slapping “SPYRO’S ADVENTURE” into the title of the game.
Even worse; it was originally a completely unrelated script that they just shoved the name “Catwoman” onto.
Basically they made a film about a woman getting cat-like powers then decided to tack the Catwoman theme on it last second
