Well, I’ve only seen one copy of it personally, and it goes pretty high on websites, so nowadays it is rarer. I think the Smash Bros. helped increase interest in the game. (Admittedly, it got me interested in it to, ever sense I unlocked Ness in the original N64 SSB.)

EarthBound is NOT actually that rare. It was just really really desired, but around the time that you got yours stores couldn’t get rid of it.

Sega and Atari stuff is rock bottom for most, so that’s good.

Yeah, it’s a shame really… They don’t know what they’re selling, or what they’re throwing away in the trash sadly…

I’m actually lucky to of gotten a copy of “EarthBound” for only 30 bucks back in the year 2001. (Admittedly, I griped a li’l about the price, but I’ve been searching for said game for years.) That game goes pretty high on Ebay, and is quite rare now. It’s still in high-demand regardless of being rereleased on WiiU/VC.

Finding people who have little knowledge of games as collector’s items is hard these days. Especially since most of the thrifts in my area have gone downhill, thank god there’s a decent amount of retro stores. But all of them know what they’ve got. Most aren’t unreasonable, but when you’ve been collecting for years and the only things left to get all are fairly priced at like $200…

Keyword there was “fairly priced,” most people don’t get that a Vectrex is not worth $600 loose.

Depends on where you get ‘em. My closest used game store (which is like an hour away) is a total rip-off charging over 10 dollars for some Sega games, (even common ones like Sonic & such) 15 bucks for Gameboy games, (which you can get on 3DS for 4 dollars) and $20-$30 for some N64 games! (Most of which don’t even have the original packaging or anything.)
Even most of their NES games cost more then the Virtual Console ones.

Only good deals they had were “Brain Age 2” for 5 bucks, (WITH it’s original box & manual included) and “Gyromite” for 80 cents. (Which is actually a fun game, even if you don’t have a R.O.B. accessory for it.)

I guess out here in the middle of Texas, (No, I’m not a redneck, or have a cute AJ accent :P) used games aren’t quite as common, sadly. A rummage store I used to work for actually threw out a ton of used SNES games & accessories in the trash, (I guess ‘cause nobody bought them) which I fished out, cleaned up, and kept for myself. (They were even throwing away the original “Star Fox,” which is quite hard to find in some places, and has yet to get a rerelease on Virtual Console.) Even some others they were throwing out like “Super Mario All-stars” would sell well on Ebay, so I couldn’t believe they just threw these out like that.
(I guess these old people don’t understand, or care for the value of video games.)

Obscure yet great game. Would’ve gotten it via Virtual Console by now, if it wasn’t 8 dollars. (Wish they brought those “Sega Genesis Collection” games to the Nintendo consoles… I feel a bit cheated.)
