Description

Margaret Loesch steps down as The Hub’s CEO.

Here’s two articles that put this into context and underline its importance. One is the article that helepd jumpstart this fandom back in 2010. The other is one from last year commenting on Hasbro’s grip on The Hub and Faust’s departure.

I have a hard time believing they can find someone to replace her who’ll care as much as she obviously did about kids’ television, much less with her level of experience.

Deadline article
During her four decades in the kids programming business, Loesch has overseen the development or production of such hits as Smurfs, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, X-Men, Jim Henson’s Muppet Babies, Animaniacs, Transformers and Bear in the Big Blue House. She was the first President and CEO of Crown Media United States, responsible for the creation of its Hallmark Channel; and President of Television, Worldwide, of the Jim Henson Group. Loesch was the founding President and CEO of Fox Kids Network, Worldwide. Prior to that she was President and CEO of Marvel Comics’ film production arm, Marvel Prods., and EVP of Hanna-Barbera Prods.

i would think iot would mean this. considering how successful it actually is.
probably might have a change or two but the network will be the same otherwise. ultimately the network it plays on is not the master and chief of mlp and the other shows.

It can mean spinoffs yes. At some point friendship is magic will have run its course and another pony show will take over. It means that this generation of pony will last another 5 years.

So all we really know is that the MLP brand will last another five years, which really doesn’t mean much, but it’s really not clear what that means as far as future seasons and such. My Little Pony can mean many other things than Friendship Is Magic. We will have to see.

I’m curious who The Hub will name as her successor.

High-level executive changeover makes me nervous, for good reasons. I’m always concerned if they really understand or care about the business.

Well of course The Hub isn’t doing as good as Nick or CN. Both of those channels pretty much have a stranglehold on the market due to their seniority. Expecting to compete with them after just 3 1/2 years with only 2, maybe 3 popular shows? They’re out of their minds.

Under normal circumstances I’d agree. But there’s the big possibility that we’ll get someone even worse in charge. Loesch didn’t make the Hub perform like Hasbro wants to: as a Hasbro-exclusive toy commercial network.

The new CEO will, if he/she wants to keep the job.
