No, I was referring to a totally different fic where the loss of power may or may not be permanent, and is accompanied by a near-death experience and a great deal of emotional and physical trauma. But not a plague.
 
The loss of power in LFC is temporary, though since nopony actually knows exactly what he’s sick with, there will at some point be a good bit of “omigod are you seriously suggesting I might die from this? TWILIGHT DO SOMETHING!” But that’s mainly because Twilight’s immediate reaction to anything she doesn’t know about is “OK, we don’t know what this is so probably it’s unbelievably awful and we have to go to enormous lengths to find it and solve it because WHAT IF IT’S A MAGIC EATING PLAGUE THAT WILL SPREAD LIKE WILDFIRE AMONG PONIES AND KILL ITS VICTIMS ELEVENTY!!!”

Oh is that all you were referring to? Is his temporary loss of power gonna be a Plot Point Big Deal Character Development TM? I’d been seeing it so far in LFC as more the backdrop set up for all his Feeeeeeeels to be happening against. I was thinking of writing more of a character treatise on discord suddenly pondering his own nature and identity in relation to his power or lack thereof. And gaining a measure of empathy blah blah blah existential angst.

Nope. Unless you count him losing his powers while he’s sick in Love, Friendship and Chaos, but that’s more or less canon based on Three’s a Crowd, and the green flu isn’t exactly a plague.

I’m actually pretty interested to see how the villain pans out. We know Discord won’t end up winning, so it’s safe to assume the villain will drain Discord of his magic and, possibly, be able to use it for his own. We’ve only ever seen Discord’s magic put to use for crazy whimsical purposes, so just imagine what a villain with more serious intentions would do…

This is USA Today. They only preview key episodes (The first part of Princess Twilight, Pinkie Pride and this) and not part of the regular circuit that Entertainment WEekly and TV Guide do. As such, their preview is “early”.

But seriously,i would have preferred a preview for the Equestria Games than spoiler for the season finale.

If Discord’s being sent after it, it implies what he has isn’t “magic”, which would make sense. He’s a reality warper, and that’s Magic Q, not Magic A that Twilight and the others would possess.
