That sounds pretty accurate.
@QuasarNova
I watch that match over and over again every now and then.
According to some comments (rumours about something on his book). It was due to Foley’s fault despite Taker being against it. He wanted to give the audience something to remember but he didn’t thought it would get that bad
IIRC, things escalated farther than they were meant to that night.
I love the freaking match so much, but I also keep thinking how close Foley got on that.
Whenever I here “Undertaker” and “fall” in the same sentence I think of Undertaker vs Mankind in a Hell In A Cell match.
They train for those kinds of things, don’t worry.
Remember that moment when Taker took Muhammad Hassan and slammed the guy into a 3-foot fall against the concrete?
Almost the same example
Kane wasn’t bleeding, but if Daniel wasn’t careful he could have bruised/cracked Kane’s bones or cause internal bleeding.
That was pushing the rating, other kids movies and shows do that to win an audience.
Besides, it wasn’t that brutal as they made it out to be, I don’t even remember Kane bleeding
I think that is slowly deteriorating. Didn’t Daniel Bryan pummel Kane with a crowbar at extreme rules?
Also the fact that wrestlers are pressed to have their matches more coreographed to avoid ever lasting injuries (Dammit benoit… Q_Q). Therefore, they need to put more effort into how not to hurt themselves that much than the match itself
Think of the effort put into maintaining streaks and reigns that last for years; it’s too much work for them to keep it entertaining nowadays.
Bare in mind wrestling was different. No one will ever break the longest reign of the Women’s title for example.
I do agree those guys are legends, but they are from a previous generation and some day new ones will appear.
Not to say they will be forgotten, but they will pay more attention to the current ones, at least, that’s how I see it happening.
Andre the Giant-15 years undefeated
Bruno Sammartino-11 years long title reign
No one’s ever even got close to these guys’ records. History is repeated, but greatness isn’t.
History has a habit of repeating itself, specially in entertainment.
Some new talent will pull out a new one giving them time… Unless wrestling goes bankrupt
It makes plenty of sense. I personally don’t think that there will ever be another amazing undefeated streak.
Yeah 4-0.
And considering his gimmick, it would be expected that he tried to keep the second best streak, but he’s too old to try and surpass it obviously.
But I don’t know, it wouldn’t be the same when you really think about it. It would be like when your pet dies and your parents buy you a new one. It’s not that the new one is bad, it’s just it won’t be the same. Does that makes sense?
Isn’t RVD still undefeated at WrestleMania?
That would have cheessy but in the good kind of way. So much possibilities that could have been but guess someone else will have to come and start a streak again
I think if who were to have beaten him stayed after the match, Undertaker showed his respect to the victor, and both guys were really cool about it, then that guy would not end up being a heel.
The thing about the streak is that whoever ends it, is bound to become a heel for life.
Lesnar would have been a goo choice, 4 years ago. Taker is too washed up at this point. I am from the idea that the streak should have been kept at 22-0. He proves he can take Triple H and he leaves with victory and the eternal praise of his fans
I suppose you’re right. I just would’ve preferred having the streak end to someone who has a very promising and long future in the WWE; Lesnar’s past his prime and probably doesn’t have too much to offer anymore, Triple H and Undertaker is a bit overdone, and Cena can’t seem to put on a good enough show for something of this magnitude.
Both are good don’t get me wrong, but bare in mind who they are fighting and how the public will react to that match. They expect someone who already has a history on the company and whose face is pretty much everywhere.
While Thruth and Cesaro are in the rise, they still don’t feel like someone “worthy” to fight the deam man himself
Even if Truth were to have had really good matches and win at least 75% of them?
You’re entitled to your opinion on how you feel about Cesaro, but do you at least think he is a good competitor?
R-Thruth doesn’t have enough pull for something that big if you ask me.
And this is personal, I don’t like Cesaro u_u
Right now, there isn’t anyone on the roster who I would’ve liked to have seen defeat him, but if I had to choose, I would have picked either Cesaro or build up R-Truth and then have him end it.
