She did not. (:MY THEORY:) AJ has had her run many times, And noone got in her spotlight. So they wanted to include Princesses Celestia and Luna. But, since rainbow rocks, they wanted to include DJ-Pon3. So she had to replace Applejack because, they probably had a certain number of ponies they would allow. So, they got rid of Applejack, (Not Permanently!) And Replaced Her with DJ-Pon3. (Again, Not Permanently!) And That was my Theory.

I’m still goin’ with AJ taking one look at this set, rollin’ her eyes and makin’ a horse noise, and headin’ back to the orchard ’cuz she gots stuff to do. Best Pony is better than this.

If you want the AJ that would have been in this set, you can pick her up for $1-$4 on eBay as part of a set of 2011 Happy Meal toys, along with Unicorn Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 minus all this rainbow tackiness.
