Ah; most people talking about just “Saiga” without a caliber attached mean the 12ga, since that’s their most popular model by virtue of YYYEEEAAAHHH!!1!
Surefire makes an aftermarket Saiga/Vepr magazine; no idea on the quality, but the only alternative is to drill out the trunion and install a bullet guide yourself, and yikes.
It’s actually not that bad to swap on the 12 and 20 gauge models, only problem is that shot shells are finicky when feeding from box mags. But the Saiga I’m talking about is 7,62x39. Only problem is that they only take proprietary Saiga mags. They won’t feed from standard AKM pattern mags because the lower is missing a bullet guide.

Saiga quote from TFR: “LOL with out a bolt hold open its a crew served weapon.” I’ve never had any problem with mag changes on old school 7.62 AK-types, but can’t imagine it’s an easy/fun process to rock & lock a 20rd magazine on one of those 12ga beasts.
Fluttershy got armor piercing bullets because of her stare.
