Yeah, building it makes sense. But I don’t know about her parents being rich. We’ve seen her dad. He didn’t really seem to fit the usual “Rich” character design that the animators portray. And I highly doubt hes “Rich but doesn’t look like it” because this is a kids show. Animators (especially in the childrens cartoon community) usually aren’t very secretive about characters being well off. Aka Fancy Pants, Hoity Toity, and Blueblood. Not to mention Scrooge Mcduck and a few others.
 
Also, with as over-excited as Dash gets, and how easily she destroys everything. Despite having that hidden creative side that I actually really agree with the Anon that mentioned this. I feel she wouldn’t really have that much skill unless she had a little help. Being artistic is one thing. But an amazing world reknowned architect because I’ve never seen another building so fabulously freaking posh in the MLP world? Hell, ever RARITY’s boutique pales in comparison.

Maybe her parents are out-and-out RICH? Or, hello, she’s a pegasus…maybe she BUILT a palatial home out of cloud all by HERSELF? :)

I think the reason Dash has such a good home it because:  
*She bought at the right time.  
*She was the right pony for the house. (Pegasus)  
*It’s located on the outskirts of town.  
*It’s also located right next to Ponyville’s Refuse Disposal Site.

I dunno if its Ice. More of shaped cloud. We know for a fact they can cut cloud to be a solid form. But more importantly… How did Dash come about this Cloud Palace? How does she afford such a large home.

Actually, most of the house construction here could still be cloud–just compressed to be a bit more “solid”.

No she wouldn’t, that one she got a week early, she would only get a royalty check after they have gone on sale.

Also worth noting, she does have Tank now.
 
Even if she didn’t have somewhat solid floors before, she probably upgraded recently.

Actually though to be honest I thought this was the Wonderbolts Flight Academy, and not her house at all.

I subscribe to the headcanon that this is a chunk of her parents mansion that she literally dragged with her from Cloudsdale.

It wasn’t always that way. The walls were obvious clouds in RIAW. I’m guessing she just upgraded.

It’s a solid house likely with a foundation that can stand on clouds and such.

That doesn’t even look like clouds though. The door handles are obviously brass.
