One of the main appeals of the show, and a few other new ones, such as TMNT and adventure time, is that they are fun. (to quote Yahtzee, ‘Remember that? Fun? Before being a fan felt like a second job?’
 
People can sympathize with characters for different reasons. For example, Pinkie is more than just a smile factory, she is a baker, a baby sitter, a daughter, a sister and a friend. She does have her moments of genius, but being wise and being smart are not the same thing.

While Pinkie’s mental state is debatable, she is still a hyperactive sweet little pony who just wants to make people smile, even if she can be a tad overly enthusiastic about that task. Apparently, she is going to get some heavy episodes down the line, so don’t write her off just yet. (also, this is adorable.)
 
Yeah she acts like a kid, but there are plenty of people out there who embrace their inner child, the sweet innocent things that make them happy in life and even helping others to see the bright side of any situation. Why did people stay in this fanbase to begin with?
