I’d like to point out that Rainbow Dash is actually rather self-aware. She only talks about what she can do because she doesn’t see much use in talking about can’t. Of all the ponies, however, she’s probably the most aware of her abilities and their limitations and, with the exception of a certain writer that came in on Season 2 that’s suffered quite a bit when it comes to writing the ponies in-character, this is a pretty consistent characterization.
