I see your point, and sorry, I felt like your original comment was segueing into “I can’t believe these insufferable malevolent ponies are still walking around free” territory.
On m defense, I did not have too much sleep today.
Yes, their actions were stupid, but I do not think your comparison stands ground: Kidnapping somebody is obviously going to cause them emotional distress, while I believe they thought the Ursa would not be able to do any harm whatsoever.
Obviously, they did something very stupid and dangerous.
To sum up what I am saying, yes, I never meant to say that I thought they were not silly.
I hope I am coherent, I am sort of dizzy.

You have valid points, to be sure. But when i wrote the comment, I was talking specifically about this character’s actions. Let’s keep it to this for the duration of an argument yes? I’m sure that they believed they were safe. That does not change the fact, that they willfully brought a dangerous creature into town, with the express desire to see it do combat. They believed in the end it would all be alright, but that does not excuse the kind of idiocy that they displayed. That would be like kidnapping a child, to see how the parents react, and replying to the courts, “We didn’t mean for anybody to get hurt, so we didn’t do anything wrong.”
Deserved punishment aside, the comment was made while i was drunk, in response directly to teh character, and I think it still holds a valid statement.
God damn site took forever to post my comment. Sorry for double.
They fully believed Trixie’s lies. They felt completely safe in her presence, even next to the Ursa Minor. In their minds, until Trixie’s moment of truth, there was no danger to anypony, as long as she was around.
Idiots? Definitely yes
Causing danger and mayhem on purpose? No
As for getting away with scolding, I think Derpy got away with less (lightning bolts are obviously dangerous. And falling pianos, on purpose or not), Twilight got away with less (parasprites devouring the town after her bucked up spell. Good thing they did not develop a taste for pony meat… ), the CMC got away with brainwashing two ponies (an afternoon of labor as punishment) and willfully spreading hurtful gossip about ponies for their own ends (an apology letter fixed that).

Most Canadians actually speak with the same neutral accent that most of central U.S. uses. Hell, we don’t even say “eh” all that much, and I’m sure I’ve heard it in american media far more often then from actual Canadians.
@Background Pony
I want to come up with a clever retort, but frankly, my government is run by people who may actually be more evil then the U.S. government. Seriously, look up Stephan Harper if you’re board. Look into his eyes… he has no soul.
And yet somehow, it was Derpy whose appearance needed to be fixed because of some nonsense about insensitivity to who-knows-what. Snails only gets away with it because he’s a guy, I suppose.
Nicknamed the Snail Mail.
Happily, no. Our pals up north can keep their funky little government and the electorate that put it there.
