The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

“Twilight gained self confidence in herself about being a princess” … wat? How the HELL did that happen from the EQG experience, which had NOTHING to do with being the ruler of a country in any sort of way?

I don’t believe you understand how character development works. If pinkie pie suddenly knew how to heal animals and is always with fluttershy without any bloody explanation then you are not doing it right.

In Megan’s first tweet she said that “it’s canon, in that the it happened and Twilight learned a lesson from it”

But I do agree with @Garth01. Unless it’s a plot point in a episode or if they want to do a throwback scene ( Ex. Scootaloo bringing up “Sonic Rainboom” in “Sleepless in Ponyville ) there is no reason to bring it up in the main show. It happened, Twilight gained self confidence in herself about being a Princess, continue on.

But that’s just as bad if not worse, because now a major part of development has been shunted to side in something that allegely doesn’t affect the storyline but most definetely has major effects.

Dealing with the imposed station was supposed to be a large part of the new season, according to those that claimed it was no biggie, but now this is telling we don’t even get that on the show itself? And we do get in the show, how exactly did Twilight learn anything? And the list goes on.

I am this close to just saying “bad-storytelling” and just watch this as one would watch Beavis and Butthead, but the show at least tried to be much more than a pastiche of things happening in hope a plot comes out.

Well considering nothing was loss or gained ( except for Twilights new found confidence about be being a Princess, and will be wearing her crown in public 90% of the time in future episodes ) it kinda does make sense. I mean Sunset is trapped in the human world for another 30 moons so we probably wont be seeing her again till part way though Se6 ( if Se4 is not the last season ), and ponyverse Flash did nothing but stand around and get bumped into. So unless a future Ep, of FiM needs to bring up the events of Equestria Girls for plot details there is no real reason to mention it in the show.

I personally don’t care either way as of right now I see Equestria Girls as begin canon/in continuity with the main FiM storyline ( unless future Ep. of FiM retcons events from Equestria Girls, then I will see it as its own separate universe )

This… doesn’t make sense. This is akin to JK rowling having harry and draco have a very gay night out and then claiming it has no effect upon the storyline but the fact it happened. Are seriously supposed to follow that such an event as archenemies consensually buggering can just be put below the carpet?

First of all, that isn’t an opinion, but a statement, so an “in my opinion” isn’t necessary. Although, I guess the idiot part is an opinion.

Second of all, there are plenty of ways to make it known that it’s simply your opinion.

I never know if someone actually thinks that their opinion is the only right one, or if they’re simply stating their opinion.
I just think that people not respecting other’s opinions is a problem, and that it creates hostility and resentment where there’s no point of it being there.

The episode itself is fantastic, but if they’re never going to learn basic storytelling and continue it, I’d almost wish it had never been made. Because every time a Spike episode comes out, I keep hoping they’re finally gonna pick this plotline up, and I go and watch it, and I’m just disappointed by more generic, cliché slapstick.

You mean Spike at your service, which I know was done by Merriwether that showed him out of character when he didn’t know how to clean anything or perform basic tasks even though he does that stuff for Twilight everyday? Yeah I know what you mean, poor Spike is kind of the punching bag on the show.

Hey, I called it a wonderful episode, didn’t I? What made you jump to Merriwether? It was a Larson episode, I think.

That was a Merriwether ep right? Another ep she did, the infamous Mare Do Well was also never brought up again, maybe becuase so many people hated it, but again the hydroelectric dam in the episode just came out of nowhere in a land where electricity is supposedly not used. I remember McCarthy said they just add places and things like the dam to fit the story, even if they don’t make sense.

A perfect example of this: “Secret of My Excess.” A wonderful episode (my personal favorite of Season 2) that has excellent character growth, decent conflict, ship teasing, some tearjerking, and it seemed prime to seriously alter the character dynamic of the group and become a story arc.

We never even get so much as a throwaway line about the major events of this episodes and the massive impact they would have on just about everything, and every Spike episode after is just cliché slapstick that never bothers to follow up on the MASSIVE goddamn thing you added to him. Why is there no follow up on this huge freaking development. It’s downright stupid.

This style of continuity (I.E. not giving a single flying feather) worked for older cartoons like Edd Ed and Eddy, and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, because those shows revealed in their own ridiculousness, and never bothered pretending that anything was done for any reason but humor.

The problem with FiM, is that the very premise of the show, the overall directive upon which all episodes are based (which is “Ponies learn friendship lessons to become better ponies) demands at least basic continuity. If the whole point of the show is character development, consistency should be an obvious thing to include.

I agree. This may be because there are different writers, storyboarders, and even different studios each working on different episodes at the same time. Everyone seems to do their own thing, even when it makes no sense in relation to other episodes.

You can’t fix it with a couple of twitts Meghan. You could have wrote less crap.

I told you it was canon, its impact on fim wasn’t the question. Now at least nobody will keep trowing that nonsense like it is the best argument ever.

Aw, I really wanted Sunset Shimmer to come back. As a pony, of course.
Seemed like there was some history there that could be made for interesting storylines.

Wut? Even Meghan made that stupid mistake? It’s EG, not EQG, it’s not E Questria Girls.
