Well he didn’t really open that fob watch as that has no lid. The mysterious stallion is in reference to the watcher guys in Fringe. This of course is even more fun because it’s a Fringe and Doctor Who crossover within MLP.

The Doctor put the essence of himself into a Watch as part of an attempt to hide from the Family of Blood; this is a reference to that element of the story. It’s one of the very best episodes with David Tennent as The Doctor.
