But a G4 reboot would likely be way more popular and profitable given its success and foundation compared to G3. At least that’s the logic Hasbro seem likely to follow (supported by the leaks).
Two questions:
  • How would your proposed G3 reboot be different than what G4 was to G3 and/or avoid the pitfalls of G4 rebooting to G5?
  • How long before a G4 reboot would be considered valid as opposed to a cash grab? (The backlash over the leaks is over how they implemented it, not how soon.)

Does G2 even have lord to develop? I thought it had nothing besides the
toyline.
And why develop G3 lore when bringing it to current standards means developing so much you might as well just reboot it? The G4 connection to G5 did more harm than good.

They started off asking if previous generations had any meaningful story content after their TV series ended, and when the comics were pointed out seem to have pivoted from “after that series ended” to “before the next generation began”?

You mean these comics?
  • Generations: The crossover aspect that was supposed to be the point was the weakest part, the G1 cast being tacked on. So the G5 cast appearing in G6 doesn’t seem like it would be meaningful.
  • Classics: Fun yes. But not what G5 needs which is to fix/finish what story it has rather than put them in separate stories.
  • Transformers crossover: Very good, would likely check out. But the G5 cast never got what made it work for the G4 (badassery, development).

I dunno if you consider IDW to be “meaningful story content”, but there were still comics coming out featuring G4 characters as recently as February of this year.
They were fun as heck, by the way.

Hasbro’s 2025-2026 plans might change that. But given G5 underperformed to the point of being cut short/Hasbro’s trend of poor story decisions that lead to this…

Fair enough on that.
There’s still the fact that any new G5 shows take so long to complete if there’s were any plans we’ve have heard about it in all the since confirmed leaks leading up to it.
Best case for G5 is the 2026 thing includes the G5 reboot. More realistic is non-show G5 projects for 2025 or ones so small they can be animated quickly.
What was the animation lead time for MYM and TYT so we can estimate how long a new series would take?

Hasbro stock hit a low of $42.69 in November last year, and has been fairly steadily increasing since; it’s currently at $72.10. I don’t think “in the red” means what you think it means.

Toys selling well is the opposite of what I’ve heard, that G4 is outselling it, and there’s little merch, and Hasbro’s in the red. Any statistics arguing otherwise?
And the movie was big, but the subsequent series failing to measure up/continue this momentum is why they’re re-booting.
You’re giving arguments for more G5, not evidence Hasbro actually intends to do so.
