Yeah, Twilicorn was the first major schism in the fandom (one silver lining of the continual splintering of the fandom from that point forward was it created room for those that appreciate the other generations, whether that be G1, G3, the oft forgotten G2, or G5 in the future, as I think before that point the energy of G4 being the only “good” generation, the only one that matters, was overwhelming and suffocated those spaces)
But yeah, there were controversies before (namely Lauren Faust stepping down, which is what I’m guessing you were alluding to in your comment, or the whole Cadance being an Alicorn thing)
