Emperor Rockhopper is as hardy as any of the polar hippogriffs. He prides himself with his strength and determination, and can be a bit hot-headed at times, but he cares deeply for his subjects and will do anything to ensure that they are safe and content. Rockhopper enjoys the thrill of adventure, and has a very strong bond with the local orca pod. He isn’t too fond of outsiders, not because he doesn’t trust them, but because he thinks they aren’t able to adapt to the harsh environment the polar hippogriffs live in. Still, he is willing to lend a helping hand if needed. And he certainly could use some when the Ziphius arrived and started to disrupt the fishing spot the polar hippogriffs rely on. IceBeak deeply respect the Emporer (he is her uncle after all), but he can be very strict and strongly forbids Icy from going anywhere near the water, not while the Ziphius remains a constant threat.
Rockhopper’s wife, Empress Aurora, is very caring. She tends to be the voice of reason in many situations and helps her husband any way she can. While Rockhopper can come off as abrasive at times, Aurora is kind-hearted and willing to listen. She misses the polar hippogriff’s old home of Glaciana, which they were forced to abandon due to the presence of the Ziphius, and longs to go back to it when the winters were especially harsh. Her favorite pastimes include chatting with the artic birds and making ice sculptures. Icy tends to get along with her aunt more, since they tend to share a variety of interests, in fact it was Aurora who convinced Icy to start exploring her skills with making frozen treats.”
