You’re actually doing more harm than good. Rice doesn’t dry out your phone faster or more effectively. It’s not going to pull all that water out. Instead, the dust and starch will get into your phone and cause more damage down the line.

Standing water trapped inside an electronic device will cause corrosion. The faster you get it dried out the better. If that means taking it apart and using extremely low temp hair dryer to push the water out and evaporate it, using a lint free cloth or even paper towels to get as much moisture as possible, then do it.
