I’d doesn’t make sense when the name October is the tenth month of the year. Oct means Eight.

Technically March is the first month of spring and usually spring is the new beginning of a cycle so counting from march October is the 8th month.

No, that just explains why Quintilis and Sextilis were renamed to July and August.

Because when the Romans first made the calendar, the year began in March instead of January. So October was the eighth month under that logic, until they decided to move the start of the year to January.
