Dreadlocks have existed throughout history, and they did exist in more underground cultures mainly due to stigma. It wasn’t until late 1900s where black people got “cultural permission / acceptance” to have em. While yea its slightly out of place in the 20s, it makes sense for the more accepting 1920s au presented here
the choice to give her dreadlocks was due to the fact that many black humanizations of twilight have her with non-black facial features and straight hair. the lack of popularity in dreadlocks back then might’ve just been overlooked to allow a more diverse vision of twilight. regardless i think its a nice decision, definitely more unique then other humanizations.
