I have a lot I want to write but rn I am very sleepy so I’ll write it tomorrow wooooo
But this is mostly to tell the story about Celestia’s one and only(?) kid.
And no before someone asks she and Thorax are not married. Thorax gifted her an egg out of generosity to help with her crippling loneliness and want of a family.

So before I manage to type in the description for this please refrain from asking me a bunch of questions that might be answered when I eventually do :’’D

Celestia always wanted a family of her own, seeing as how others around her had children made her feel somewhat empty. Though she wasn’t interested in marriage, more so in the prospect of having children she could call her own. The closest that ever came to that was Twilight, but as much as she adored her Twilight was just her student. Ever since the changelings went into a new age, Celestia has been lending her assistance in hopes their new allies may settle in smoothly. Through her guidance, Thorax has been able to ride the ebbs and flows of leadership with much success. Which meant that both of them had a chance to become quite close! Celestia began to open up more to him and he later found out her longing for a family of her own. Thorax as the king of changelings himself has sired a few young queens (the first being Ocellus) and felt sympathy for his friend. So he offered to gift her an egg in hopes to soothe her loneliness. He didn’t just give her any old changeling egg, he gifted her a royal egg! Which are much much harder to produce, considering the time, magic, and love they take. Celestia was insanely flattered by the offer but declined at first. Not wanting to cost the young monarch any trouble. Nevertheless, after much insistence and further discussions, she caved and looked forward to receiving her soon-to-be pride and joy. After many moons, Thorax had prepared the egg enough to a point that he would be confident it would stay strong in the Sun Princess’s hoofs. During one of their meetings, he surprised her with it, which sent Celestia into a flustered frenzy of emotions. She thought it would’ve taken a bit more waiting, but it seemed like her soon-to-be child couldn’t come at a more perfect time! Thorax felt a bit sentimental parting with the egg, although he knew deep down that the grub would be in good hoofs. He was very proud of the fact that he once again managed to produce a healthy spawn!

When the egg came into Celestia’s care, she did her absolute best to give it everything she had. Before it came into her possession, Thorax had given her a lot of knowledge on how to nurture the egg further. Especially during the period that he handed the clutch to her. The current stage was one of the most important, this is where the egg’s strength and development relied on the most. Changeling eggs needed to be fed a sufficient amount of love to stay strong, especially the royal ones. So through Thorax’s instructions, Celestia would spend three times a day an hour each to give the egg love and magic. She would sing to it as she held it close to her chest, told it stories of her land, and talked about how much she looked forward to meeting the hatchling inside. When given the chance she would of course spend more than three hours a day with her ‘child’ (as she would like to call it), and would even fall asleep while she sang to it. Keeping track of the egg’s healthy was easy since you could tell by the color and glow of the egg. The brighter and more vibrant the stronger it was, and there was never a moment where the eggs shine was ever dull. You could tell how much the princess adored it and how genuine her love truly was.

The months leading up to the hatching were short in hindsight but felt long and arduous from Celestia’s perspective. She was eagerly anticipating her child’s arrival with bated breath. So when she heard it crack during one of its feeding sessions, she watched in awe as her pride and joy revealed itself to the world. Celestia was quick to come to tears as she scooped her child up from his old home into her embrace, taking in his scent as she cried with jubilation. It took a while for her to gather herself up, but when she did she quickly summoned Thorax to see what had become of the egg he gifted her many moons ago. Thorax answered her summon with haste and came with help in tow. There it was, the hatchling laid on a soft cushion with its beady deep blue eyes looking up as Thorax got closer. He was relieved to see it healthy and doing very well in the princess’s care as he’d expected it to be. Later they found out that the hatchling was a boy, which was a rare occurrence for royal changelings! Since they were mostly queens. “Did you come up with a name yet?” Thorax had asked as he watched her admire the grub lovingly in her embrace. “Hmm… I’ll name him… Xavier… Xavier Sorley” she smiled lovingly at her little changeling, which gurgled back at her happily.

During Thorax’s first visit to see Xavier, he brought along with him someone that he knew Celestia might find very helpful in raising Xavier. Her name is Daisy, or as she would like to call herself “Nanny Bumble”! After Xavier hatched he would be needing a different kind of care than the one he had been receiving while he was in incubation. Other than needing more tender love and care, as a royal changeling, Xavier would need to be fed royal jelly, made by a bee changeling of course. Royal jelly would provide the enzymes and nutrition he’d need to grow big and strong! Since the process of making royal jelly is eating pollen and vomiting out the product, in pony standards it wouldn’t be a pleasant sight to behold. But since Celestia wants to be very involved with her son’s care she never really felt grossed out by the procedure of watching her son being fed. Daisy (or Nanny Bumble) has had experience taking care of young queens before, so it wouldn’t be wrong to consider her a veteran in raising royals. At first, she was a bit unsure about living so far away from her hive, but after the hospitality that Celestia and even the maids at the castle showed her, she felt more at ease.

Since Xavier wasn’t a hybrid it was easy to predict how his growth would look like, the unpredictable parts came in a lot later since he was the first-born male royal. He didn’t seem to develop wings at first, and the changeling doctors thought that he might not even develop them at all. But they did come around a lot later in his life during his late teens. Because he was feeding off Celestia’s magic and love he grew a bit different than his changeling ‘sisters’. His magic was of course insanely powerful, and so was his transformation ability, but the older he grew the more pony-like he seemed to look. He knew early on that he wasn’t like his mother, but he didn’t feel as if he was a true changeling as well. With that said, he never doubted that his mother loved him unconditionally not even for a second. Celestia couldn’t help but spoil him rotten, he thankfully never turned out to be a brat. Considering he had his Nanny to discipline him, but also a private mentor that taught him the ins and outs of high society. The nobility of Canterlot was very much adverse to their new ‘prince’, but later on had to begrudgingly tolerate his existence, lest they incur the wrath of their sun goddess. Xavier later moved from private tutoring to learn in one of Canterlot’s best boy schools (imagine an mlp version of Eton College lol). Safe to say he was very popular around the school. But just to keep him safe Celestia did give him a pendant infused with some of her magic that would act as a shield to protect him from harm.
EXTRAS:
Xavier Sorley means “bright summer”. His name came from the fact that he hatched during a bright summer morning. Which is also considered his birthday! (and a national Canterlot holiday)
Baby changelings have deep blue eyes as newborns (or hatchlings) but will develop a different color later in life. During this stage they can’t see very well, so you have to be up close if you want them to see you.
Thorax can produce eggs as a normal queen does! But since he is a king and not a queen changeling it is a bit more difficult for him to produce them with the same frequency as Chrysalis did. So to help with that he produced young queens in hopes that they will take the role when they mature later on!
Changelings are hermaphrodites, meaning they have both sex organs. They can reproduce by themselves or with others! (So if you tell a changeling to go fuck itself…. it can lmao)
Royal changelings are usually born female leaning, so having a male-leaning one like Xavier is a rarity.
Changelings come in a ‘default’ look when they’re born like the ones in the show. But it’s when they want to specialize that they develop into other forms, like a Daisy!
Daisy was given her garden so she could produce honey at her leisure! She often shares it with people in the castle, and Xavier likes to have it with his breakfast c:
Though he is a pureblooded changeling, Xavier isn’t considered related to the main Changeling Royal family, since he didn’t grow up within the hive
In changeling society familial bonds are not decided through blood relations but by the bonds you forge, unless you’re royalty. In technicality every changeling in a hive is somewhat related to each other, considering they came from one queen, so their social structures work differently from let’s say ponies.
Young Equestrian Royals are usually gifted a charm or in Xavier’s case a pendant in which they have their parent’s magic stored inside. This charm helps protect them while their magic is still developing, it can also assist in combat and training.
Although Xavier was given to Celestia as a gift without any political reasons, as a thank you to Thorax’s generosity changelings were granted Canterlot citizenship if they so pleased. This caused quite a stir in the aristocratic scene, but they later realized that it was a good move for their region’s business growth. There are several changelings settlements in Canterlot, most of them are situated in the mountains.

I had fun writing it down c: I’m not sure if this is how I want Xavier to look, so his design might be up to change in the near future but we’ll see! I do have more notes on changeling lore for my AU but that’s going to have to wait for another time lol. I haven’t made any proper content relating to my mlp nextgen which is sad, because I do love coming up stories for it! I have a rough draft for the main plot, but for now it’s under lock and key before I’m confident enough to post it in it’s full glory :’’’’D

I do not like this ship nor do I particularly like the trend of making fan kids out of ships…
but this is kind-of cute and I like the premise.
