While Moonlight was out on the balcony, trotting back and forth, almost mumbling to herself with a smile, was when her daughter Moon Melody would step in.

“You wanted to see me, Mother?” Melody asked. From her thoughts, Moonlight would look up as she grins at her daughter.

“Ah! Moon Melody. I’m very pleased that you were able to join me.”

Melody would walk forth as her mother joins her, making their way to the edge of the balcony. As the two look at the vastness of the kingdom….the empire that Moonlight was able to create, joining 4 kingdoms, plus her own into one. How marvelous it’s been. How these past few years have grown.

“Would you just look at all this? How everything….after all these years has finally come together. There is nothing I would change about this kingdom…about Crystalla. I’ve been Grand Ruler for this place for a very long time. Adapting to this place…this planet has changed us…mentally and physically. I mean look at you, Melody. Look at me. This planet is a perfect place for life to exist.”

“Yes, Mom. I understand but why am I here exactly? Unless you want to know about music or talk about throne stuff which is more like Nebula’s thing….then what’s up?”

Moonlight would walk by Melody as she looks over the balcony.

“As you may know, I have successfully redeemed this empire a great success in completion. No more establishing ponies to power and detailing with major builds. Everything is at 100%. And as a filly, I always loved my things all organized and complete. But all this…this big. More than just a silly project. This is life. And I always want my life…..all our lives to stay the same. Which was when I get to thinking. What if it does stay this way forever? What if nothing ever changes… what if nothing ever dies? It would be the same every time. Life would never change.”

Melody was listening very closely to her mother’s words. Already having a bad feeling about this. Moonlight continues to talk.

“So I created a spell. A spell so powerful that it affects time and space. By that, I mean making time freeze for me.. for everypony and life on the planet. Isn’t it great! Everypony would never grow old or die…life will never end. Everything would simply stay the same. I’ll be Grand Ruler forever and would never retire. There will be a few minor changes around like birth and old age but that’s okay. The only flawed thing about my spell is that I require somepony else’s magical assistance that is blood-related to make sure it works. That is why you are here. You’re going to help me with this spell.”

Melody would look at her mother with a blank expression and simply would say…

“No.”

“What? Why?!” Moonlight says a bit surprised by her response. Not too happy about it.

“First off. Your idea is crazy. Ponies living forever? Might as well make them all alicorns. Secondly….I am a unicorn, yes, but my powers are limited to my talent, which is music….I’ve never done anything outside that. I don’t even know if I could do. The idea is just so..random. Even for you.”

The more Melody kept on explaining the more Moonlight didn’t like what she was saying.

“Melody…just think about it….our family. Your sister. Your brother. Me. We will be with you forever. Wouldn’t that be amazing? All the ponies you care about will be with you forever. Will be with all of us for all time. Don’t you care about them? Don’t you care about the ponies in your life?”

Moonlight said walking around her. It seemed like Moonlight was trying to guilt trip her but it would’ve worked so easy. It was starting to annoy Melody that her mother was pushing the idea.

“Mom! I said no! It’s wrong! The more you even think about it, it is. We grow. We change. Together we make a difference to make sure the world…our planet becomes much stronger. Much better.”

In return, Moonlight would also start getting annoyed by her daughter’s stubbornness.

“But it’s already better! It’s perfect! I wouldn’t change it for anything. That’s why we have to do this.”

“You mean you Mom. You want to do this! You just want to stay in power.”

Moonlight looked at her upset.

“I’m not dumb Mom! I know what this is about. You’re just afraid that your perfect world could change if any pony..even your children could change it all. You just want power…..If you think about it. If we don’t age….you stay in power and Nebula could never inherit the throne…”

“That is NOT what I’m saying! I’m thinking of the sake of the empire…for my FAMILY!”
