This information reveals that the pony tribes were together after the magic was lost.

The story shows three mysterious unicorns stood in front of the Wishing Tree that has a secret in them, and it seems that these are actually alicorns, we know that the ponies had completely forgotten that they exist, but have an instinctive recognition of them, as Sunny to her discomfort had discovered. Two unicorns faced each other - the light represented by a snowflake, ice, with a white unicorn - and the dark represented by a symbol of fire - fire, with a unicorn with Opaline’s colors. I find if strange that grands figgy was the one with the book.
But maybe it was gift from Argyle and that’s why Hitch was a little more open to unicorns when he was younger
