He wears those bells for a reason: during his life he’s made enemies of powerful members of the Fey Folk, and the only way he can insure his safety is by wearing bells. Not the bells of brass as he’s often depicted wearing, but of the bane of the Fey, cold iron; the sound of a cold iron bell is torture to the ears of a Fey, and the touch of it is like poison.
