It doesn’t cost all that much to procure fabric from an arts and crafts store. And even if you wanted to make the yarn yourself, you could use a mechanical loom to assist you instead of using manual labor (and frankly I think there are a lot of better things Rainbow Dash could be doing with her time than helping Rarity with anything).

I have no idea what you are talking about. Don’t you realize you don’t use spinning wheels to break down fabrics? There are other ways to do that. And I would think that Rarity has plenty of ways to find the material used for the fabrics in a hotel (though I don’t know if you are referring to a specific hotel).
Either way the spinning wheel feels very out of place.

I think what happened is that she used the blinds and fabric in the hotel. It meant she had to break it back down into a usable form for the outfits. My guess is that she had it off hand and needed to use it because she couldn’t get the same fabrics and stuff from the hotel. She literally mentioned that she got the inspiration from the hotel itself.

Maybe she can only afford one sewing machine for herself and for multiple ponies until she gets more money, they’ll have to stick to these old sewing wheels.

I know. It feels very archaic for Rarity, especially considering how many customers she gets in Manehattan. It would be a lot more profitable to use pre made yarn

I question why she is doing it at all, though? Doesn’t Equestria have factories where yarn can be made in bulk, largely using machines?
That’s how textiles are made in the real world, after all. No one uses manual spinning wheels like this anymore, unless they are doing it as a part of a ‘living history’ museum or something.

So…technology is so old in G4 that ponies in the fashion industry have to use foot-powered spinning wheels which, in the real world, were first invented over 1,500 years ago???
Or is Rarity just obsessed with outdated technology?
