Tempest Storm is a young adult hippogriff
His story also runs at the same time as Pegasus, Rainbow Struck that in the environment/city of Hippogriffs, Storm is no longer connected to his family which was just his mother as he never saw his father
But as he was very independent from an early age, he managed to live well without his mother around and nowadays
to support herself she sings in a pub under the sea
