I can understand. Either way, both are good.
But the version moved to more of an artistic choice to try to approach the realistic photo, while the version of 2022 has more for artistic ambition to be an evolution of the cartoon style, a little like the renderings of the animated film Klaus , from Netflix.
The 2018 version also reminds me of a really bad time or with the head of MLP Timey Wimey, where I just wanted to please by showing that I could do an almost realistic style like another artist in the community at the time, but I the effort put into this work has been trampled on by “meh, not bad, but you can do so much better”.

This is good, but the old one is much better. A lot more detail, eyes, proportion of the horn, cheeks is better, head is not “just a ball”, etc.
