Hopefully Twilight will be clever enough to hire him as a body double :D
He has everything Twilight has. Only difference are the freckles :D
Nice.
He was just too busy, ahem, getting busy :P
They probably could make such a thing. I’d assume it’s risky, like the “better” you make the amulet the harder it is to control. Like, that’d be my guess for what the Alicorn Amulet was: something made to give regular ponies the power of an alicorn, but it’s too powerful and so it can exert its will over them :P
True, though I wonder… Most amulets we’ve seen enhance magic in some way. Makes me wonder what they’d make of, say, a Periapt of Health or Amulet of Telepathy. They’d think the former beneficial for medical purposes and leery of the latter for peering into others’ minds. Yes, Luna can technically do the same thing, but the difference is that Luna uses her power responsibly, likely only stepping in when needed, whereas a stranger would not be so easily trusted.
Kinda makes me wonder if GMHAA had suffered any initial difficulties in Equestria, before everything was straightened out.
We’ve seen quite a few at this point, one was casually sold in a curio shop, Trixie accepted at face value that Twilight had gotten her hands on another one, and nobody batted an eye at Neighsay effectively using one for bureaucratic duties. That tells me they’re at least so common that their existence isn’t surprising :D
That may be, but it’s not better. Wanting to stand by and watch an innocent animal be beaten to death because you want to prove the validity of a story is just as bad as wanting to see it for your own amusement. It’s equally cruel. Especially in a world like Equestria where animals and monsters have a fairly high level of sapience overall: like, the real world equivalent would be two kids dragging someone in front of Mike Tyson and saying “Prove you’re tough by beating this guy we found to a pulp!” :P
Equestria’s kind of messed up when you think about it. Their whole “friendship is the right of every creature” thing does NOT gel well with the clear double standard between species and classes in that world XD
I’m also reminded of that Frog creature with the multiple eyes that was in that episode where Rarity and Dash had to cooperate on some task, a later season episode ( I’d look it up, but Fandom Wikia has been borked as of late ). And that same creature was found in a cage in the episode with Scootaloo’s Parents. And I’m like, ‘Ok, they can talk, why are they getting bagged and tagged like some random specimen?’.
I think he was referring to other magical charms, not the amulet itself. Kinda agree with the manticore, especially we see one bowing with Trixie, which means he knows and is part of the act, which implies his kind are intelligent, just unable to speak. Then again, many animals are like that in Equestria, even into g5, so there’s that.
Probably in their heads, Snips and Snails were attempting to help reinforce Trixie’s Credibility, and with how flawlessly confident Trixie was in her claims, they were led to believe they were doing her a favor. Kids are terribly impressionable, and Trixie is dead set on having the biggest impression on everyone. Also, where does one draw the line between animal and monster? We see all sorts of monsters caged and locked away forever in Tartarus during the Season 8 finale, from the Bugbear to the the Chimera and even the Manticore ( Why him? Unless it was an entirely different Manticore ). If you willingly attack a settlement or a pony you get locked away in there?
That’s an interesting thing you bring up. I honestly didn’t think about magic amping amulets were a common thing possibly being a thing in Equestria. Then again, a lot of fanfics had the idea of magic nullifying rings, but it wasn’t until 2,4,6, greeatt made them canon.
True, but that doesn’t make her in any way responsible for the incident, or implicit in any wrongdoing though. Consider this: even if she was fully capable of taking down an Ursa Major, how was it in any way acceptable for two people to find an innocent wild animal and chase it into town, endangering everyone there, because they wanted to watch someone ‘‘kill that innocent wild animal for their own amusement?’’ Trixie’s not the bad guy in that scenario; Snips and Snails are just mean, cruel little gremlins for wanting to see such a thing and for doing that, like where was Ponyville’s element of kindness and lover of animals on THAT one? Like okay fair Trixie was kind of a lying dick to be sure, but what Snips and Snails did is some real Patrick Hockstetter from IT type stuff :/
Now she did make a rather bold claim that she couldn’t back up. And it wasn’t some generalized hyperbole like her usual ‘Great and Powerful’ rants. It was a specific feat, having saved hoofington by driving away an Ursa Major. And when you make such big and straightforward statements, you better be able to back them up, and Trixie got the proverbial ‘Tar and Feathering’ for it. As for her punishment being disproportionate to what she was actually guilty of: Imagine what could have happened if it was an Ursa Major instead of an Ursa Minor that was brought out of the Cave, everything for miles could have been wiped out and Twilight might have not been able to placate it like she could the baby. Also the whole ‘mustaches as punishment’ thing was really dumb too, completely taking the gravity out of the situation, as Snips and Snails were the other half of the equation as far as who was at fault, another idiot ball moment.
I think she will freak out
The thing with Twilight, is sure she’s as powerful as a nuclear bomb and has had the whole “you’re the protege of the god-empress of the world” thing dumped on her since she was like 5, but she’s still basically just a kid. Probably not even in her 20’s. Like look at how young her parents look. She still has the wants and needs and drive of a late teen / young adult: it would honestly be weirder if she DIDN’T have a bunch of immature and selfish faults :P
That would have been funny since she can fly. “Make Princess Twilight walk the plank! Only 10 bits!” :D
Hard to say :D
I bet she’d be okay with it. She named her duck “Twilight”, after all XD
Honestly though, Ponyville deserved it. Trixie actually DID try to let that incident go and just move on: ponies from Ponyville continually harassed her about it, even followed her around to bully her and vandalize her stuff for it, to the point it destroyed her entire career and livelihood, and it wasn’t even an incident she was at fault for. Her response actually made perfect sense: boost her power and defeat Twilight in a duel as it would not only restore her reputation by proving she wasn’t a fraud compared to Twilight, but also intimidate the Ponyville crowd into backing off. If it wasn’t for the whole “amulet corrupted her into tyrant mode” catch it would have worked without a hitch, and even with that hiccup her plan worked quite well: the next time we saw Trixie her reputation was fully restored and the most she was getting from Ponyville were a few fearful whispers behind her back. I would argue the whole reason they didn’t try the whole pitchfork routine is she’d made it pretty clear if they started shit she would finish it: Ponyville kind of has the whole stock bully thing going on where they’ll gleefully treat someone who backs down like trash (like Fluttershy in Putting Your Hoof Down) but they’ll do anything to avoid a confrontation with anyone who is even POTENTIALLY a threat (like Zecora in Bridle Gossip) :P
Just the loss of trust would be enough, to be honest. Besides, look at how bad Ponyville treated Trixie after HER reputation was tarnished through something that was not even remotely her fault :P
I honestly don’t think his reputation was Tarnished in any way. As #30F5 stated, your average Equestrian is extremely forgiving ( and probably forgetful ) of past slights. Iron Will is well aware of that. Which is why him and those similar to him such as Film and Flam, Gladmade, Suri Polomare and Svengallop will always find other marks and opportunities.
Agreed.
Even so, she regretted what she did and Celestia clarified there was no set schedule. Same with Trixie, she said it herself:“I feel awful for what I did to your friends.” Look, we can debate all we like, but the fact of the matter is, the ponies are MUCH more forgiving than we are. At this point,I feel if we continue, it may devolve into insults and personal attacks, so let’s drop the subject, for now.
