Ponies don’t really follow that kind of naming scheme. Not because of any in universe lore but because they’re toys.

For example: Transformers has its rights with two companies; Hasbro and Takara. Everyone knows who Optimus Prime is but I bet not everyone knows who God Jinrai is. The name is what’s used to sell merch of the character so this is what toy companies use to pattent their ownership of the character.

Care Bears is another example. There was a time when Sunshine Bear was called Funshine Bear because they lost the rights to the name. They got it back tho so they reverted the character’s name back.

Sprout is pattented as Deputy Sprout. Its his name on toys and coloring books. He is likely not going to stop being deputy any more than Queen Haven will stop being queen.

I’m sure he’ll appear in the actual show.

Not necessarily. Mlp names don’t work by name and surname (seeing zipp storm and pipp petals or argyle starshine and sunny starscout). Some families however keep specific words in their names (such as the apples) and it makes sense that Phyllis, based on her high status, would give her name to her son. Besides that, there’s at least one official post from the official social media accounts calling Sprout by “cloverleaf” so it’s pretty much confirmed. It’s common not to speak of the characters by their full name (seeing zipp being zephyrina and what’s haven’s name anyway? Just haven?) So I get why they just say Sprout. I did notice how he has never been called by any full name other for Sprout hence i used to wonder how true it actually is, but since those official accounts posted it, that’s just a fact.

Oh celestiadammit, my searching kung fu is weak, I started tagging him as sprout cloverleaf on Tumbr because there was an official character model sheet of him on EqD with that name but now I can’t find it.

The official MLP accounts have posted videos to choose who’s song is the best and he was officially addressed as Sprout cloverleaf.

I don’t know. Maybe he is wanted but when he comes back they make him deputy again. Deputies are deputised by their sheriffs. Unlike sheriffs, who are elected by communities, no one else can make you a deputy other than your sheriff. Its very easy to write Hitch deputising him back. After all, he did choose Sprout to be his deputy to begin with, for whatever reason that may be.

His merchandising IP still states his full designation as Deputy Sprout. Cloverleaf is a fan thing. This suggests he stays being the town’s deputy. Otherwise, the would’ve pattented the name Sprout instead of Deputy Sprout.

He’s hiding till the arrest warrant expire.

Yeah. And curuosly, he’s still the deputy sherrif there. I guess the makers of the game and the series didn’t consult with each other about their work.

He’s in “A Maretime Bay Adventure”, even as a playable character.

I don’t think so fim never stride away from showing close minded ponies the errors of there thinking my guess is there probably slowly building up to his redemption if Sprout is gonna be the pony that makes up the G5 Mane Six it’s safe to say their saving him for a finale or special episode
