You really need to stop taking everything the media tells you too seriously. If you were an American in 1931, you’d be harping on how North America was doomed, and couldn’t ever see prosperity again.
If it was the mid to late 1960s and you somehow were in your 40s with a teenage son, you might be worried about him drugging up and going out with hippies.
If it was 1974 and you were in New York City, there would be a high crime rate and high air pollution, and unfiltered leaded gasoline exhaust hanging in the air. There would also be abandoned, vandalized, stolen and stripped of parts cars parked in the streets.
History is chock full of trouble here and there from one year to the next, but whadda ya know, we didn’t blow up the planet or pollute it beyond repair.

29 here and wondering were the heck all my time went. People kept saying I would have plenty of time to find someone special, well I feel like that time might be running out now.

I’m in my 20’s and I’ve already outlived a large portion of my family and several of my close friends, not even mentioning the ones who’ve abandoned me. Even ignoring that my life has been defined by chronic and extreme depression and fugue. Frankly living to my 20’s, in general, has sucked and I don’t really see that improving significantly. Really it just gets notably worse every year, I just get better at dealing with it, and sometimes there’s at least parity between those two things and things don’t seem quite so bad.
So forgive me if I don’t find the “living to X would suck” argument particularly compelling, since agreeing to that argument would also require me acknowledging that being alive now isn’t worth it either for me.
So yea, happy to live a long time/forever so long as I can remain about as cognizant as I am now. If nothing else then, I’d always have the memories, and I know first hand how important living auld lang syne can be.

Living to 100+ would suck, because you very likely would have outlived everyone you love. And with how the world has gone to crap in just 20 years, who knows how much worse it’ll get in another 70/80.

I’d be quite happy to live that long, but at the same time I’ve kind of already just accepted I’m probably not long for this world. If I do live for a long time then it will be a nice surprise even if I get there and I’m just like “Well now what the fuck do I do?”

Imagine the few people who get to 100, then somehow end up living until they’re 115.
I’m not pulling anyone’s leg here, go look up a list of the longest living people if you don’t believe me.

This is almost exactly what one of my high school English teachers told us about his 50s, unsolicited.
