Even if that was true… how was he supposed to react? Twilight just ran up to the love of his life, called her evil to her face and sent her away in tears. All for the sin of healing his migraines. Considering all that, rescinding Twilight’s invitation to the wedding is perfectly understandable.

And yes, that wasn’t what Chrysa-Cadance was really doing to him, but how in the world is he supposed to understand this? How is the pony who’s being hypnotised to not notice they’re being hypnotised meant to notice they’ve been hynotised? That’s like blaming a blind pony for not seeing something in front of them. Most of the accusation writers and artists just refuse to use logic and common sense. Or alter what actually happened and vent their outrage over the new, altered version of events that only exists in their minds, like I explained before.

There’s another pic by the same artist taking the scene from Princess Twilight Sparkle where the rest of her friends tell her they are expendable and she isn’t, and twists it into them betraying her. Somehow.

IMO I think that while hypnotism may alter someone’s mind, there’s probably an element of truth to what they’re saying, like it’s something that’s sitting there deep in the abscesses of one’s mind but they wouldn’t dare say it out loud - kinda like what the Dazzlings did in Rainbow Rocks, bringing out the worst in people and all that

To be fair to them, the one pony who’d know Cadance better than Twilight is Shining Armor, and he claimed she was just stressed. And I don’t think Twilight ever thought he was hypnotised, because if she did, she might’ve wanted to bring that up instead of once again saying Cadance is mean and therefore the wedding should be off.

Curiously enough, a lot of those same artists and writers who hate on Twilight’s friends also blame Shining Armor for the things he said while he was hypnotised. Like the artist of this piece here.

I mean in fairness the one thing this image gets right is that none of her other friends knew Cadence prior to the wedding, while Twilight’s known her since she was just a filly, so you’d think they’d take her word for Cadence’s antagonistic behavior being unusual and out of character rather than assigning that to simply “pre-wedding jitters”

like you girls just met her, how can you claim to know her well enough to assume this is normal? even Celestia (her aunt) didn’t seem to notice anything was wrong, even though they’re literally related - this season started off (after the premiere at least) with Twilight’s friends not taking her concerns seriously and ended with Twilight’s friends not taking her concerns seriously, and both times it ended up blowing up in everyone’s faces

so yeah, while I do find a majority of these callout pieces over-the-top and ridiculous, they also bring up some fair points every now and again, which I wish they’d address more rather than focusing on the torturous fallout and emotional drama - I dunno, maybe I’m putting too much stock in a show like this, but a big lesson this show needed to teach more often in episodes like this is that “communication is key”

Remember how so, so many Anon A Miss fics would rake Sunset Shimmer’s friends over the coals for immediately abandoning her without any evidence at all and not allowing her to explain her side of the story… when they defended her at first, had some pretty good evidence, and let her explain literally the next time they met after the big confrontation?

Or like in this comic, where Twilight Sparkle makes a big ruckus about supposedly warning everypony of a threat when they dismissed her as being jealous, when her actual reason for wanting the wedding cancelled when they talked was literally “Cadance is rude”. And she stormed off then.

2012 bronies were a different breed - the fact that most of us now look back on this with a greater sense of cringe shows we’ve largely grown out of that childishly vindicative state of mind that fueled countless accusation fics back in the day, while others are still trying to grasp onto that last bit of glory when it comes to calling characters out for things they did a decade ago _{cough cough Black Kyurem cough cough DakariKingMykan cough cough}

Sheesh it’s one thing the scenario could present itself better along with the dynamic of the characters, but this is overkill.

Personally, I do wish Twilight had gotten a bit more vindication, especially after all of the BS that happened to her during the wedding. However, this incoherent mess is NOT it.

Oh hey look, blaming your friends for something the villain did. And for not taking you completely serious. After you argued the wedding should be called off because the bride was being a little rude. Actually, they did take you seriously, you stormed off when you didn’t have any argument left. And when you did, finally, get a real argument, you didn’t tell them, you made a huge scene.

How does this have any thumbs ups? Didn’t everyone crying over this die out ten years ago?

Her friends only dismissed her AFTER Shining Armor seemingly cleared every issue that Twilight brought up against her. They didn’t bash her just for making Cadance cry.
 
“Cadance” was being a bitch out of stress since she had to deal with the wedding preparations alone after Shining had to focus on protecting Canterlot. Have you never heard the term “bridezilla” before? Possibly dealing with a massive threat right on the heels of a wedding would cause any mare to act a bit high-strung. That could certainly explain why Celestia, or anyone else familiar to her, didn’t find her behavior odd.
 
Twilight also seemingly hadn’t seen Cadance since she was a filly. She didn’t even seem aware they were dating. She didn’t ask “But what about Cadance?” when hearing about the wedding, but just “You’re marrying someone I’ve never met?”
 
Twilight is just holding onto the past here, which taints her credibility since she can’t be unbiased. She expects Cadance to be exactly the same as she remembers, and had it out for her ever since Cadance didn’t shake her butt to their old chant, then began spying on her because she just couldn’t accept that Cadance might have moved on from it.
 
People can change, and not always for the better. Just because someone is sweet now doesn’t mean they won’t turn out horribly in ten years. Nostalgia doesn’t make credible evidence that a person is acting out of character when you have no idea how they’ve changed since you’ve last seen them.
 
The most Twilight has is that Cadance cast a spell on him. Which Shining said just cured his migraine’s from the constant strain of keeping his shield active at all times.
 
Add in the hyper way she brought it up, and it’s not surprising in the least they all abandoned her, and I don’t think they should have to apologize for not taking someone acting crazy seriously just because the overly paranoid person just happened to be right this time. I guess the only thing that saved everyone was Twilight’s emotional immaturity. Yay for neuroticism, I guess?
