“Grim, I don’t think you’ve told me what we’re in the middle of a swamp for yet.”
Grim poured a jerry can full of gasoline over the impaled zebra and struck a match. “Isn’t it obvious? I took this fatso from the morgue, now I’m dousing him in petrol and am about to set them on fire!”
“Yeah, I can tell that.” The rat continued, “But why, though?”
“Because of this!” Her magical aura unfurled a scroll lifted out of her bags. “This shrine is essential to completing this spell, the spell to summon the legendary Minacious Fate!”
“Uhh, that your great-granddad or something?”
“Precisely! Minacious Fate was the first to bear the family name of Fate, a master of dark magic who sought to attain mastery over life and death! With this ritual, I should be able to summon his spirit, so he can teach me all the secrets of necromancy he wouldn’t dare put to paper, secrets he would only share with someone like me!”
The rat snickered, “A nobody who works a minimum wage job in a fast food place?”
“NO!” Grim shouted, “His direct descendent! First in the line of inheritance! His body may have died centuries ago, but his soul lives on!”
