Yeah, the Sugarcube Corner staff is LOW, and he’s a pretty efficient worker).BACKGROUND & PERSONALITYBasically, Rocky has the deadpan and sarcastic nature of his Auntie Maude, but the puffy and fluffiness of his mother and father. He doesn’t mean to come off as imprudent or grouchy, if anything Rocky deep down is an endearing and considerate fellow. However his humor is dark or pessimistic and he can be a pretty anxious colt when in doubt.
Though it gets repetitive, he enjoys his bakery job, creating new recipes and putting smiles on his customers faces. His customers are his everything and ensures that they leave with great customer service. And hiring Estella has made that guarantee a whole lot harder, but he’s okay with it, because he loves her and has a challenge now XP. Mentioning challenges, he loves to be challenged and trying new things, especially when it comes to baking. This just makes his work a whole lot more interesting than just repetitious. In fact, Rocky makes a new sweet and salty recipe every week, and has a poll to see if the ponies want the recipe to stay or keep it exclusive. But obviously, most times the ponies beg it to stay.Most importantly, he puts the most effort in his work when it comes to his family and friends. Like, you wouldn’t think that such a monotone and unenthusiastic pony like he would come up with such big ideas on the spot, but he does. Inheritably, Rocky is an amazing party planner at heart, but only for those he knows and loves. If you’re in his heart, he is devoted to you. He’s the one that’ll give you the biggest gift on your birthday, and make the ones who only bring gift cards feel ashamed XD. His pockets will most definitely be empty, but he doesn’t like spending bits on himself anyways. He’s a people person and only thinks for others, and never himself (which may be a flaw… Rocky, your well-being comes first buddy ;w;). The funny thing about this, he does this big party stuff with a straight look on his face as if he wasn’t trying -_-.His love for baking started when he would watch his mom train his big sister Lil’ Cheese, or Cherry, how to bake when they were young. From that, Pinkie really didn’t need to train Rocky much because of how comprehensive he was. Also, Rocky carries his own self-confidence within himself regarding his work. This confidence branched off from when he won the Junior Baking Competition in Canterlot, for the most creative cake. His creativity fuels the pride he has in his work. As arrogant as it may sound, he full heartedly believes that his sweets are avant-garde, one of a kind, but this mentality allows him to keep himself motivated instead of boastful. However, I’m pretty sure Rocky doesn’t want to enter another competition after that, only for his reputation and confidence sake; he can’t jinx it. Rocky knows his limits, though his limits may be cowardice in this instance unfortunately.If it wasn’t clear, Rocky is a dedicated stallion. A stallion, dedicated to his work, customers, friends, family, and esteem. He is very devoted, to where his hard work can lead to tiredness, of course, and also feeling like he’s not good enough. “Not good enough” in a sense that he needs to try harder, push further to see what else he can accomplish next. But then he has to slow down so he won’t rush and ruin his dedication. “Dedication” for him is like a double edged sword and can ruin his life, because since he can’t mess it up, he thinks he has to be perfect and steady. But when he does, he just breaks. Whether it’s a wrong order, a failed recipe, upset customer, or an incident that happened in a close relationship. Whether the situation is big or small Rocky will just crack under pressure. Poor Rocky is one of those ponies, where even the smallest inconvenience caused by him can ruin his day, and he allows it too. This brings out his “Pinkamena” mode, where he’s all washed out gray and depressed. I say depressed, he’s more or less anxious. He does have a pity party, but afterwards his stress leads to him wanting to fix the problem on his own and becoming a crazed maniac when the situation is out of his control or whoever he might have offended doesn’t clearly forgive him.RELATIONSHIPS☆Pinkie Pie: Rocky’s energetic and beloved mama. Being her youngest, Pinkie babies him to death and still baby talks to him even at his age XD. Rocky is pretty independent on his own, but when his mom’s around she tends to take over and school him and spot every tiny detail (even though she knows that he knows how to do it. It’s just a mothers reflex). She’d be like, “Oh, Cookie the oven is one degree higher than it should be,” or “You got something on your face Cookie,” and attempts to wipe his face because he’s so tall and she’s so smol >w<. She doesn’t do this out of spite, but out of motherly habits w. Rocky does find it a bit annoying and embarrassing when it’s public, but internally he loves it. The love from his mother is cherishable, and treasured in his heart. He will always be Pinkie’s junior baking assistant, and she will also be his coach.☆Cheese Sandwich: Rocky is somewhat disconnected from him. He’s more of a mothers child if anything. Cheese always wanted a mini him, a junior him and Lil Cheese (Cherry Cheesecake) was his first chance, but if you didn’t know, Cherry quickly became independent off to do her own thing, and ended up being nothing like her father after childhood. So Cheese’s next opportunity was his upcoming child, Rocky Road, but Rocky wasn’t having that either. Cheese Sandwich isn’t much of a baker like his wife, and the kids enjoyed baking far more than traveling almost daily and throwing events. So, Cheese just wanted until they got older. By that time Cherry was independent, while Rocky was getting there, so Cheese seized the opportunity to persuade Rocky. Admittedly, Rocky appreciates the fact that his dad sees potential in being a party planner and wanderer such as Cheese, but disagrees and thinks he’s only good at what he already does. Regardless, Cheese still nags Rocky to travel with him sometime and so he can experience the satisfaction of enlightening gloomy citizens. But Rocky just doesn’t oblige. Sure this is disdainful and tactless behavior on Rocky’s part for not giving it a try, but it’s also rude that Cheese keeps pestering him about it, knowing that Rocky won’t accept. The two need to have a bonding moment and respect each other’s lifestyles… Geez Louise… >~<☆Cherry Cheesecake/ Lil Cheese: The pony that Rocky inspires to be like. She’s independent, extroverted, multi-talented and daring. Everything that Rocky wants to be but seems like he can’t. Sure, Rocky is independent and social in his own way, but still lingers in the vicinity of his home and family. And plus, at this point he’s fairly familiar with the same ole customers that come to Sugarcube Corner, so it’s not like he meets new deviated ponies on the daily, unlike Cherry. He compares himself to her, not because he thinks he’s trash per se or he should be exactly like her, but because he thinks he can do better for himself, however he keeps restricting life’s purpose to this simple bakery job. He loves and supports his sister and respects her dearly. She encourages her little brother in return that he’ll find his soul purpose soon, besides she’s already proud of him working at Sugarcube Corner and being successful there.☆Estella Sparkle: What will he do without her, (be less stressed that is, JK XP). But seriously though, he enjoys her presence greatly and will tolerate keeping her as a part-timer, just so he can have another familiar face other than his family. Plus, this job keeps her living the normal life, the life she wants, no pressure, just (binge eating) taste testing macaroons. Another attribute to having Estella around is that he loves her, more than he thinks he does, and subconsciously wants to keep her around him, though he has eyes for another currently. He’s more comfortable around her and finds it easy to vent and be himself, the same goes for Estella. Valentine would occasionally ask for chocolate covered strawberries, while Lightning would frequently ask for 5 cups of coffee (and gives them both discounts… and yes, coffee has been brought to Sugarcube Corner, through Pumpkin Cake, btw). However, he thinks the two are great, and is glad of the relationship that they share with Estella, plus the memories they shared at The School of Friendship.EXTRA☆Pinkie had the mane six suggest some names for Rocky, however, only Rarity complied…I think we all know what part it was (Crème Glacée). She couldn’t help it! She just thought of her favorite type of dessert and voila!☆In his “Pinkamena” mode (which will probably just be called Rockefeller Rhode or something) to calm him down a bit, he will tend to stress bake or stand miserably in a warm shower and sulk TwT. The only thing that can get him out of this isloveand reassurance that everything is going to be okay.☆I swear, Pinkie Pie is ridiculous. Her son has like EIGHT names and prefers to nickname him COOKIE?! XP☆ Is addicted to marshmallow fluff and peanuts or almonds (and is very embarrassed by it XP). This snack craving carried on from his childhood (that’s why he was so chunky back then >w<). But once he hit his teens all of that fat magically slipped away. High metabolism goes a long way huh XP. However he’s still very out of shape and needs to pick up some weight sometime. He wasn’t blessed with the Pie strength and thick muscular build like his aunties and sister.☆Estella and his mom say that he constantly smells like chocolate, vanilla, frosting and brown sugar… and Rocky can confirm that he does. It’s not an overwhelming smell, maybe like a faint yet noticeable smell that you get from dessert scented candles.☆Notorious for giving absolutely everyone a nickname, instead of saying their real name. Like he’ll say Miss this, or Mister that or something dessert related XP…☆Yep, has a crush on Polaris thanks to Estella, and also has one on a sweet and lovely customer by the name of Echinacea. And surprise, surprise, he did have a crush on Estella when he was younger, but didn’t think he seemed fit for her. He did grow out of the crush, but it still vaguely lingers within him.☆I can imagine him being voiced by Zeno Robinson for some reason 🤔. Maybe like Hawks voice from My Hero Academia or something close XP.
