Nintendo has confirmed in a way that each Mario game is like its own self-contained story and world. The Mario series does have callbacks to other games still, when its not just SMB1 for the millionth time. But yes, Kirby is more consistent with lore in its own way.
Thanks. :) But I don’t really consider myself the go-to person for Nintendo knowledge. If I did, I would be playing every series Nintendo has made which unfortunately is a challenge of itself.
I would prefer to not keep the possible crossover in the format of SMBZ, sorry. I would be fine with seeing some story where the newest extraterrestrial threat that Kirby has to deal with happens to be in Equestria. Or its something from Equestria that is summoning Kirby and his dimension to Equestria. The Mane Six and other supporting characters would be Kirby’s traveling companions for the adventure who do have their own ways of defending themselves. Meta Knight and King Dedede would also be in the story and since we are in an era where the Kirby games are always celebrating their history, this could act like a second Star Allies where the Dream Friends and other older characters can make appearances just for the hell of it.
Accidental Temporal displacement? Or Considering Kirby is an interstellar traveler, maybe just have him crash land there light years from home.
Now that you mention it, that would probably make more sense. Some parallels would likely not even work, an example being that Kirby and MLP don’t have a “main villain” per se like the source material (being Bowser and Doctor Eggman) and more so have a new villain show up some time after the last. Sort of like Dragon Ball, I guess you could say.
Rainbow Dash/Vegeta
Pinkie Pie/Gotenks
Fluttershy/Kid Trunks
Rarity/ Android 18
Spike/ Krillin
Starlight/Gohan
Applejack/Piccolo?
Iron Will/ Hercule Satan
Sunset/ Future Trunks
Trixie/Yamcha?
Luna/ Supreme Kai/ Beerus
Chrysalis/ Cell
Tirek/ Frieza
King Sombra/Broly
Midnight Sparkle/ Goku Black
The Dazzlings/ The Androids
I don’t think it necessarily has to copy DBZ. The original SMBZ had Mario/Goku, Luigi/Krillin, Yoshi/Piccolo, Sonic/Trunks, and Shadow/Vegeta, Mettalix/Broly Cell/ Cross Dimensions/time travel, and the Chaos Emeralds/Dragon Balls

That is true. To my understanding, he was just super disinterested in the show, and had to repeatedly clarify to fans it wasn’t his playing ground, nothing extreme or egregious.
Really? I would honestly think it’s the other way around. Mario’s lore and canon is pretty difficult to understand at times, for even the Mushroom Kingdom’s location is highly inconsistent, with Odyssey and all. Kirby has had some pretty cool callbacks from past events, and locations like in Squeak Squad when Meta Knight repaired and brought the Halberd out of the ocean which was submerged back in Super Star. Though, it’s probably a matter of opinion. I can see why you’re very Knowledgeable in Nintendo stuff especially now seeing who’s in your icon.
That would be really fun. Like Red-Supernova mentioned, it would be very cool to see a ROM hack of that.
Well he did it to tell his fans to shut up about it since they kept pushing it in his face, even though he didn’t really get the characters and the show. It still resulted in people saying that he misinterpreted the show and that he shouldn’t have had lashed out on MLP and bronies like that but he was in a very bad spot when that happened. As far as I know, the only other time he brought up MLP after that journal was through a throwaway line in one of his future journals.
I remember seeing one of those fans make a video that had them all pissy about Mark doing furry art in between SMBZ episodes. I was just as anxious and a bit impatient as they were but to put down one of their other passions was so damn rude and uncalled for. Mark was also unsatisfied with how the direction of the old series was going which also added to why the old series had to be cancelled and shelved for the time being.
Me too. Imagine a rom hack of that mode from Kirby Super Star with new level designs, replacing Dedede with Pinkie and a harder AI on Pinkie.

I would love to see a Gourmet Race between Kirby and Pinkie Pie. :P
I could be wrong, but that sounds very tame reaction compared to more extreme example I’ve seen. Unless he’s actively vocal about disliking MLP, there no controversy. If he doesn’t like it that’s fine. No need to bother him over it.
Well, yeah, but my point was IF he was a very adamant anti-brony, it would be sort of hypocritical considering he was bullied off the internet for a while.
Kirby’s world is sadly never consistent much like with the Mario games. Despite having lore between games, a lot of mystical places and objects are usually never present in the next game. The only time we had consistency with places was the anime, and that was its own continuity.
You can read below here from what I remember about his history to+wards MLP.
I agree. It’s a pinnacle part of Kirby’s world and Dream Land’s worldbuilding as whole and is definitely one of the most iconic pieces in the Kirby franchise though it did make an appearance in Super Star/Super Star Ultra… Several times, technically.
This is very surprising. Obviously if he’s furry I wouldn’t judge him, but he’s like the last person I would expect to be one since his work as a sprite animator seems so vastly different from that sort of field.
Indeed. It was rude of Pinkie but Celestia knows better than to lash out for something as trivial as a cupcake. Now with Kirby? I think we would get another Gourmet Race.
He is. When FiM was new, he expressed that he had no interest in seeing it, other than making one MLP-related pic with one of his characters and saying that Rainbow Dash was the closest pony that came to his interests. But with the combination of his motivation towards the old SMBZ storyline, the pressure from his fanbase who came to him every stinking day over when the next episode was, and the nagging of those same fans who wanted to see him become a brony, he eventually got fed up with it all and wrote an entire journal entry saying that he has watched the first season of MLP:FiM and the premiere of Season 2 and considered it not worth the hype. I’m sure by the time he wrote that journal, he was already prepping up that the old SMBZ story was going to be scrapped but just had to take his anger out on the brony community first. As time went on, we learned that he has anger issues and can be very brutal when it comes to expressing his opinions.
Its a shame the Fountain of Dreams was only used for one game compared to the Tree of Harmony which appeared from time to time. But give the Fountain of Dreams credit, at least it was never destroyed.
I thought he cancelled the old series because he was losing motivation at the time and his fanbase was constantly nagging him.
If I’m not mistaken, the reason why he “cancelled” SMBZ a few years ago was because of online harassment for certain “interests”
In an alternate universe, that would have been something else that’s for sure. In my opinion, I always saw the Tree of Harmony as Equestria’s equivalent to the Fountain of Dreams in Dream Land since both act and correspond with each world’s main abstract idea (Being Friendship and Dreams).
If there was a Pinkie Pie VS. Kirby fight, it’d probably have to be Kirby earlier on in his series since that was arguably when he was at his weakest. Modern Kirby would probably stomp.
He’s a furry? And he hates MLP? To my understanding, Mark seems more of a Nintendo juggernaut if anything.

Let’s hope Pinkie Pie doesn’t do that “You gonna eat that?” thing like she did with Celestia. :P
I guess this means Kirby will only get triggered once Pinkie Pie comes into play.

UGH, I really need to play Squeak Squad sometime! Its the only mainline Kirby game I haven’t played yet. I can’t decide on either emulating it or supporting Nintendo by purchasing it off the Wii U Virtual Console. I also need to finish the rest of Star Allies content before the next Kirby game rolls around as well.
As for a Kirby & MLP crossover, I would be down for that. I’m sure if it was a fanfic, it should follow the conventions of recent Kirby games by having the first letter of each chapter spell something out. And if were also going by recent Kirby conventions, imagine secret chapters that act like the second quest of a Kirby game with a new boss and a true final boss through the story’s “True Arena”.
I remember someone on this site’s Kirby Thread claiming that would have made good material for this kind of crossover is that the Tree of Harmony would be one of the creations of the mysterious Ancients that Magolor spoke of in Return to Dream Land. Of course this person said it would have been a good idea if it weren’t for the show shooting that down with the Pillars being the creators of the tree and elements……but still questioned how they even got the seed to grow the tree to begin with?
@Wayneponeth
How ironic because the creator of SMBZ hates MLP.
Oh god SMBZ. The nostalgia is real with this one.
You have no freaking idea. I already love SMBZ, I would literally pay money just to see this happen.
Imagine a SMBZ sprite series, but instead of Mario and Sonic, it’s Kirby and MLP
Kirby and Twilight would most certainly get along.
Yes, that’s a good way to put it for starters, though later on Squeak Squad had to still throw the strawberry cake into the equation which indirectly butchered the character since the situation with Daroach and the chest since that should have no longer been in the equation up to that point. I think Squeak Squad portrays Kirby horrendously, but it’s probably because it was made by another company than Hal, like I mentioned.
He’s both of those things, but I certainly agree that he is for sure the latter far more than the former. Kirby is generally portrayed as harmless, peaceful and as you put it selfless & polite. He will initiate any extreme measures if others’ lives are in danger, and if his home is currently in the process of being seized by some otherworldly threat. I really like the way you put Kirby considering he is my favorite character of all time, though the only minor bit I’d disagree with is the bit about Kirby destroying a planet over his food getting stolen which is almost never true most of the time, as the only point it was was Squeak Squad, which portrayed Kirby terribly (mainly because a different company other than HAL made it).
He won’t destroy a planet over food being stolen but he does keep track records. When Daroach stole his strawberry shortcake, Kirby immediately went after Dedede because he has a history of stealing food on Popstar. Not exactly a monstrous thing to do but Kirby did demonstrate the tendency to fight before asking questions, especially when it comes to food.
