It’s likely not actually white, but a hole. I’m not sure if your dark blue lines are just strokes, but they meet at a corner and the color over top of it has a small curve.  
with the path edit tool (I think the keyboard shortcut is N) you can select one of the points on that curve and turn it into a corner; that will let you move both handles on the point independently.
