A friend wanted me to draw his Final Fantasy XI character, dressed as Cloud, riding on the back of Fluttershy, who’s dressed as Aeris.

This sounds more like someone with some kind of personal vendetta against the artist.
I think the pic looks great.

My friend, in this context, with a request like this, there is no such THING as too goofy. XD
Actually, he originally wanted Fluttershy dressed as Sephiroth, but I thought that was a bit too goofy.
