Luna is not yet ‘magically fully grown’. Meaning physically she probably wont get any taller but she is still in ‘recovery’ from being banished, so she is still regaining her magical strength. This is why she has a static mane and tail when she is initially brought back.
Luna, like Celestia, is incredibly powerful and could swat Twilight like a fly if she so wished lol.
Luna is magically teatherd to the moon as source of magic- she doesnt actually raise the moon. In the same regard Celestia does not raise the sun. (while they do assist in the sun and moon’s orbit and rotation around their planet, they arent necessary to keep them going. The Sun and Moon existed before alicorns, and have been rising and falling by themselves without any sort of outside assistance before the sisters came into the picture)
In the winter, with the forcoming of shorter days and longer nights, Luna becomes more powerful than her sister as her solar body is present more often. The winter equinox is now celebrated as Lunas, with her moon being in the sky longer than the Sun. It is a celebration of what Luna brings to the world of equestria, but its also a spectacle of sorts to see the Lunar princess at the peak of her power.
Luna as she would be at the start of the show is around 1800 years. After having sexual relations with sombra she lost her immortality. Having said that, this doenst mean to much as she will still live for a couple more thousand years, and will without doubt out live Cadence and Twilight. Celestia was mortified at her sisters choice to relinquish her Immortality, noting that at some point she would have to go through the heartbreak of loosing her sister all over again, except this time she wont be coming back. Luna on the other hand, wasnt fussed. Stating that she didnt want to live forever and see those she cared about die constantly. Furthermore, she expressed that the love she has felt from Sombra and the joy her children will bring her will enrich her life in a way that an immortal being couldnt experience.
As Luna grew older and regained her stregnth back from being banished, she strted to regain her bat like features. This includes the change in her diet towards a carnivourous life style as a result of her teeth and digestion tract changing to reflect the nocturnal predator.
Lunas phenotype is very rare for a Biological Alicorn. She exhibits a curved horn, split hooves (not cloven, she still only has one toe) and a lion like tail.
Alicorns like Celestia and Luna have distinct markings called Ethereal Markings that can be displayed when the individual is going though extreme emotions, magical excertion or when they simply have an overload of magical power flowing through them (cue over 9000 clip). Its not fully known why Alicorns have these. Its said that Starswirl had figured it out and as a result had the ability to exhibit Ethereal markings of his own.
Like her sister celestia, when you stand in close proximity to her you will physically feel the concentrating magic radiating out of her. You may also hear a sound eminatating from her, similar to this (www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_WXwX…)
