Mane 6 Headcanons
Edits: Twilight wing change, Rarity head change, Fluttershy thumb change

(Season 9 spoilers below!)

So I just finished watching season 9 of MLP and I gotta say that I really enjoyed it! Although there are some things I would’ve changed, I think it was a nice way to leave of the series. So I decided to draw my interpretation of the older mane 6! It took me a long time but I finally completed them, so I hope you enjoy them.

Headcanons:

Fluttershy:

• Fluttershy eventually decided to go to school and become a licensed veterinarian, and opened a veterinarian office and sanctuary that will rehabilitate any animal in need. She is still a part time teacher at Twilight’s school, but she still dedicates most of her time in her vet profession.
• Her and Discord eventually made their relationship official and she moved in with Discord in his chaos realm. She doesn’t mind it, she actually finds his chaotic nature rather charming. Fluttershy does miss her cottage sometimes, but she spends so much time at her sanctuary that she doesn’t mind. She still gets to work with animals and be involved with nature.
• Over the years, Fluttershy has become less shy. She is still a very soft spoken and polite pony, but she isn’t deathly afraid of meeting others anymore. She also doesn’t let others step all over her, and is very capable of defending herself. She doesn’t voice it, but she is secretly very proud of how far she’s come and doesn’t think she’s weak. She thinks she is a strong, kind pony who has grown exponentially.
• Fluttershy expanded her horizon and moved her study on past just ordinary animals. She began to borrow books from Twilight and began to study magical creatures and beasts. She’s even discovered new creatures entirely on expeditions across Equestria.
• She eventually used her sewing knowledge and began to practice more and more with Rarity. Fluttershy found that it was a fun pastime to spend with Rarity. She makes a crochet scarf or sweater for all her friends almost every Hearthswarming Eve.
• Loves to write romantic stories to show at the Ponyville’s Author Club

Pinkie Pie:

• Eventually moved out of Sugar Cube Corner and moved in with Cheese Sandwich, who settled down and bought a house on the outskirts of Ponyville. Even though she moved out, Pinkie still frequently visits the Cake family. She considers them family and often lets Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake babysit her daughter, Raspberry Cheesecake.
• Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich frequently travel around Equestria, planning parties for other ponies and spreading joy.
• Pinkie and Cheese’s relationship is very sweet and sappy, it is as if they were made for each other. They enjoy playing friendly pranks on each other, and keep a scoreboard for all the pranks they’ve done.
• Despite being the smallest of the mane 6, Pinkie is surprisingly strong. Her earth pony genes and many years of mixing batter and dough has made her a muscular pony in a small, fluffy package.
• Occasionally enters baking competitions with her daughter, Raspberry Cheesecake. Pinkie Pie isn’t super big on competing, but her daughter sure is!

Twilight Sparkle

One thing that I didn’t like about about season 9 was Celestia and Luna retiring and Twilight replacing them. I thought it was kinda strange, the two sisters are these powerful alicorns that have been alive for 1000 years and still have many years to come, why the hell did they both just suddenly retire? I didn’t like how this kinda changed Twilight into Celestia, it felt like what made Twilight a fun character was washed away and she just became like season 1 Celestia. I like the old Twilight, the princess of magic and friendship. So in my headcanon, that is what she remained. She is not the ruler of equestria, and the two sisters did not retire.

-Twilight Sparkle remains as the headmare of her school of friendship, and made Starlight Glimmer the vice head mare to help manage the school. Twilight also now teaches magic lessons at this school, and these classes are open to anyone who is passionate about magic. Although Twilight is considered the princess of friendship, she still loves magic and enjoys teaching others just as Celestia used to teach her.

• Her hair is not flowy like Celestia and Luna’s hair like it was in the last episode of season 9. Twilight doesn’t have as much magic as the two sisters, so her magic doesn’t leech into her hair like theirs does. Although, when using powerful spells, her magic can pass into her hair and cause the waving effect.
• Unlike in towards the end of season 9, Twilight doesn’t get over her “twilighting”. It’s part of her character, her anxiety one of the things that makes her herself. She is still a bit of a neurotic, impatient, anxious mess, but her friends help her through her episodes like they always do.
• Over the years, Twilight has gotten over some of her hermit tendencies and social awkwardness, but there are still times where she gets lost in research and shuts herself in for days.
• Extremely sarcastic and sometimes a bit of a pessimist
• In a loving relationship with Rainbow Dash (Her parents aren’t the happiest about it. Their elite alicorn princess with a brutish pegasus mare? How absurd. But, they support their daughter nonetheless.)
• Probably the biggest caffeine addict in Equestria
• Twilight is a great writer, and she has published many books over the years about her magical discoveries.

Rainbow Dash:

• Unlike her other friends who moved in with their lover, she couldn’t bring herself to move in with Twilight. She loved the alicorn, yes, but she belonged in the sky. Rainbow loved her house in the clouds, and couldn’t stand remaining in the library. Despite this, Rainbow Dash visits Twilight everyday and often spends the night with her at the castle.
• Rainbow excelled in the Wonderbolts, and once Spitfire retired, she became the captain of the team and the headmare of the Wonderbolt flight school.
• Rainbow Dash struggles with ADHD. She has the standard symptoms, hyperactivity, fidgeting, impulsive behavior, easily bored, short attention span, the whole package. Her coping has improved over time, especially with the help of Twilight.
• Rainbow Dash is constantly exercising, it is practically obsessive. Twilight constantly worries about it and urges her to take it easy, but Rainbow can’t help it. Working her body has an almost therapeutic effect and she thinks deeply the most when she is working hard.
• Rainbow Dash doesn’t like to admit it, but it makes her a bit embarrassed being shorter than Twilight. She has always wanted to be really big and tall, and having a girlfriend taller than her makes it even worse. She tries to not let her affect her relationship with Twilight, but sometimes she can’t help but subconsciously stand up as tall as possible when around Twilight.
• She is an athlete legend, and it isn’t uncommon for other ponies to approach her and request an autograph.
• She holds the record of fastest pegasus to this day.
• Rainbow Dash often shows up to the Ponyville’s Author Club (which includes Fluttershy and Twilight). Although she doesn’t write too much, she enjoys hearing what everyone else wrote and she wants to support her friends’ hobbies.

Rarity:

• Rarity moved in with Applejack shortly after they married, but her boutique in Ponyville is still open and very alive. She has multiple boutiques across Equestria, and has become one of the top names in fashion.
• She enjoyed sewing with Granny Smith before the old mare passed away. They completed countless quilts together, including both of her foals’ delivery blankets.
• Wine and dark chocolate enthusiast
• She has a weakness for Sugar Belle’s apple pie, especially with a side of vanilla ice cream.
• After all these years, one of her favorite activities is going gem hunting with Spike. Although Spike grew out of his crush on Rarity, he still enjoys the time spent with an old friend.
• She is always sewing up new garments for Applejack and their children. The constant gifts sometimes get a bit annoying, but they appreciate her generosity.
• Frequently meets Fluttershy for sewing sessions and lunch. She loves to share her passion with a friend.
• Often volunteers to direct plays at Ponyville’s school house, as well as design costumes for the plays.

Applejack:

• After Granny Smith passed away, the farm was passed down to Applejack. She became the head of Sweet Apple Acres, and she keeps Granny’s handkerchief in loving memory.
• Overtime, Applejack has expanded Sweet Apple Acres’ business. Along with apple products, they also have a large egg business that formed thanks to her daughter, Ambrosia. They also make a large profit from their bakery, which Sugar Belle opened after moving to Sweet Apple Acres. Sweet Apple Acres has many business partners, and thanks to Applejack’s great leadership, she is able to keep her entire family very comfortable with their profits.
• Applejack uses a lot of the money they make to help others in need. She has never been the type of pony to want a lot of wealth, just enough to keep her family stable. She would rather donate to charities with the extra funds.
• She often helps plan town charity events like food drives, soup kitchens, fairs, auctions, home building, and other activities. It makes her feel good to help those in need, and has made her a cherished member of the community.
• Although she can be a bit awkward when it comes to romance, Applejack tries her best to be the best wife she can be for Rarity. Taking her on a beautiful picnic and watching the sunset, taking her to the spa, spoiling Rarity with gifts, you name it. All she wants is to make Rarity happy and be just as generous as she is (Rarity is very appreciative).
• Applejack holds an immense amount of pride in her children for becoming such successful young adults who both contribute to the farm in their own unique way. She couldn’t ask for a better family.
