The problem with Wallflower was that her character flaw that would justify her never doing more be remembered, shyness that Applejack compares to Fluttershy, was only given a throwaway mention and never actually shown in work.

My impression with the series was stagnating; the villains and fights being underwhelming, the central story was stalling/failing to do anything impactful. Sunset’s story was the one thing keeping FF from that trap and the series intreating/something FIM wasn’t doing better. So yes it’s sad we didn’t get this as the ending, but EG was so consistently squandering it’s potential outside of Sunset I’m otherwise not sad to see it go.

I think it means Sunset used something different/more than just the mirror which had the displacement as a side effect. But maybe the retcons/inconstancies required is why it never left the drawing board.

While it would have been interesting to see this fully made, I can accept that EQG is over. The series began going downhill after Rainbow Rocks for me.

I honestly have doubts about Forgotten Friendship. It was good to see Sunset reunited with Celestia, and Sunset sacrificing herself to save her friends’ memories further showed how she had developed as a character. But the biggest problem with Forgotten Friendship was Wallflower Blush. Given that she was around during the previous EQG movies, why had she ignored all the good Sunset did to redeem herself?

Pretty much what @BiggerNate91 said. We’ll never find out. I’m sure Nick had a great idea. His Forgotten Friendship and Rollercoaster of Friendship were both very well written. It’s a shame. EG still had so much story potential.

No. We saw at the end of Friendship Games and in Spring Breakdown that pony and human counterparts can exist in the same world at the same time.

Wait. If the pony Sunset’s existence in the human world is displacing the human Sunset. Does that mean that the Dazzlings’ counterparts are being displaced too? And does that mean that Sci-Twi was being displaced when Princess Twilight was in the human world in the first and the second movie?

It was a solid special. A couple shorts were pretty good. And the last minute itself it feel like an ending with the cast sounding off their names.
 
But as a overall series finale, eh.

I believe this was supposed to come after Holidays Unwrapped. HU was intended to set up the S2 finale, and the S2 finale was supposed to set up S3.
 
I’m even more disappointed EG was cancelled because I always wanted to know about the human Sunset Shimmer.

If there’s any chance, maybe they might continue EQG in idw comics. Or maybe not…
