My Little Pony - 1992 Edition

Evil, perhaps, but was he anymore evil than some of our heroes during their less-than-noble moments?  
>Celestia not helping her sister Luna overcome her jealousy.  
>Luna letting her jealousy get the better of her to the point of making war on her sister.  
>Twilight Sparkle screwing up multiple times and hurting her friends in the process. Bonus points for being a complete jerk in the movie.

In general I never felt like he was overall evil, but not really misunderstood either. He’s a being of pure chaos, who causes chaos because it’s in his nature. His mind works fundamentally differently than ours, chaos is by itself considered a good thing and an end goal for him. Selfish and Amoral might describe him better than truly evil, and it’s also for this reason that I never considered him “Reformed” either. You can’t reform chaos.
That said, some of his actions can definitely be considered evil. He clearly took a sadistic glee in twisting the minds of the Mane Six in the Season 2 premiere, he felt remorse for betraying his friends to Tirek even as he did it, but still willingly did so, and he used four living beings as puppets for an insane plan in Season 9. All of these actions are ones I’d consider evil.
Not even those, just selfish, naughty, and sneaky.
 
Taking pleasure in others pain, betraying those who trusted you even as you know it’s wrong, and using living beings as pawns are certainly more than just “Selfish, naughty and sneaky”. In general I’d agree he’s more mischievous and chaotic than downright evil, but some of his actions definitely go over the edge to outright malicious and villainous.

Its hardly ‘I don’t know why he did that if he was good’ more ‘I don’t know why he thought that was a good idea’.  
Evil, thats a philosophical question  
What constitutes evil…is the man who allows evil and does nothing evil? Is only the man who does the evil action evil? Is evil action with good intention evil? Is good action with evil intention evil?
