It’s based on a Magic: The Gathering card called the “Sword of Dungeons & Dragons”.

Now that I think about it, this is a pony transformation caused by a MTG artifact inspired by D&D, all of which are owned by Hasbro. Does this warrant a Meta tag or something?

It appears to be some absurd mace-sword hybrid, possibly meant to function as an axe as well, judging by the prominence of the curve on the blade.

There is no logical functionality to it. It would shatter and break apart after a few uses.
