Description

The door to Princess Luna’s offices flew open and Luna’s older sister entered in my Equestria dreamscape. Celestia found her sister sitting on some cushions with her pupil huddled up close to her. The Princess of the Moon had a distraught look on her face and her left wing was draped over her student. A tray in front of her and the filly had were the remnants of cookies along with empty mugs of hot chocolate.

Celestia trotted over and joined Luna and Applebloom on the cushions. Extending her right wing the Princess of the Sun laid it across both her sister and the filly. She leaned over and nuzzled the filly.

“Applebloom.” Celestia’s voice conveyed the concern that showed in her eyes. “The Watch Captain informed me of what happened. Please accept my apologies over this horrible event. I’m so sorry this happened to you Dear! Doctor Steady Pulse says that Last Thing unfortunately had another bout and took leave of her wits. In the throes of her delirium she attacked you.

Doctor Rolling Hills said you were not injured physically, but I’m more worried about mental the trauma you’ve experience.”
The filly looked up at Celestia. The princess could see from the redness eyes in her eye the filly had been crying recently. The buttercream yellow swallowed and shivered slightly before responding. “I, I, wasn’t hurt yer Highness. At, at, least not physically, but, but why. Why did she do it? Why did she have ta come and say what she did? She just walked up ta me and starting blaming fer things I didn’t do. Or things I’ll supposedly will a do in the future. I, I just don’t understand anything anymore.”

Applebloom slowly lowered her and nuzzled into Luna’s mane started crying again. The princess pulled her closer to her side in a hug with her wing. Luna looked at sister and then down at her pupil. “Applebloom. What exactly did Last Thing accuse you of?”

For a couple minutes the sisters couldn’t get any answer as the filly sobbed softly. Finally her crying ceased; Luna levitated a handkerchief over and dabbed her pupils eyes then let her blow her nose on it. Finally the filly spoke.

“She ah. She ah. Accused me of, of opening some gate. I, I don’t understand. I mean yeah. I ah opening gates at are place all the time, but I’m suppose ta. It’s a part of my chore and all.”

At Applebloom’s mention of opening a gate Luna noticed her sister tense up the tiniest bit. For several seconds Celestia was silent. Then with a even, deliberate voice she spoke. “Applebloom my dear. Are you absolutely sure that’s what she accused you of?”
The filly nodded her head. Celestia continued her line of inquiry. “Yes yer Highness. She was a really worried about me opening some darn gate.”

Celestia looked at her sister again then back at the filly. “Applebloom understand I’m not accusing you of anything, but when Last Thing had her first bout of seizures and delirium she was adamant that I had to stop somepony from opening a gate. I know the chances are slim but do you know of any unusual gate in your town, or have you heard anyone in Ponyville talking a lot about a gate?”

The filly shook her head. “Not really yer Highness. I mean almost every home gots a gate of some type, but I haven’t heard of anypony really talking about one.”

Luna spoke up. “Little Bloom. Have you had any dreams about gates? Have you had any dreams where somepony told you to open a gate?”

“No yer Highness. Nopony in my dreams has told me ta open a gate, but I have had a couple of dreams where I’ve met a twin of myself. She’s worried about some storm coming. She’s been telling me I have ta prepare fer it, and that I’ll have ta stop it. I don’t understand what she want of me though. She’s never told what the storm is. It’s as if she expecting me ta already know what it is and what I’m a suppose ta be doing.”
Luna stiffened at Applebloom’s statement. “Little Bloom. Why didn’t you mention this to me sooner?”

“Well did tell ya I’d had some weird dreams.” The filly mumbled.

The Defender of Dreams looked at her student. Then she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Slowly Luna let it out. “Yes. Yes you have casually mentioned now and then that you’ve had some weird dreams recently. However I fear you have failed to convey their significance to me. Can you still remember them clearly? If so would you please tell me and my sister exactly what your dream self has told you. And where you are and what is was happening during those dreams.”

Luna then sighed and nuzzled Applebloom again. “Please understand this dear. I’m not angry at you. I’m just very, very concerned about you and your well-being. Both myself and Celestia are alarmed that you maybe in some form of unknown danger. So please. To the best of your abilities please tell us what you’ve seen and heard in these dreams.”

“Um, okay.” The filly said meekly. Then over the next couple of hour, and a proper dinner, Applebloom told the Royal Sisters in detail her dreams with her doppelganger.

To be continued.
