It’s the subverted expectations joke. The obvious thing that’s off is Gallus seems like he’s being forced into the marriage. But they claim what’s off is something completely unrelated and unimportant. For some that juxtaposition creates humor. It just didn’t land with you.

Actually, he realizes that if he was just plain fucked (in all senses) before, now he’s certainly not getting out of it. Ever.
