And now the TL;DR version.
 
The Last of Us Part II came out recently and people found a scene of a heavily androgynous woman and her lover doing it doggy style. Because of said woman’s appearance, the story that beats you with a sledgehammer about revenge being bad, and the fact that it’s all basically a glorified BAD interactive movie because a very notorious feminist video game critic was used as a consultant by the game’s director, said scene and a lot of other aspects of the game are getting meme’d to hell and back.

This image is a reference to the new survival horror video game The Last of Us Part II. In one scene, two characters have sex. These characters are Owen and his girlfriend, Abby. Abby is hated by fans because a) she killed Joel (a fan-favorite and the protagonist of the first game) in a poorly written scene, and b) the game’s attempts to garner sympathy for her—including being forced to play as her—all fall flat.
 
Owen and Abby’s sex scene left many players disgusted and annoyed. Prior scenes failed to establish enough audience rapport to make players care about the characters having sex. The sex scene did not fit very well into the narrative—a nihilistic tale about revenge set in a world ravaged by a zombie apocalypse. And the character animations in the sex scene looked uncanny and awkward.
 
So naturally, the sex scene got mocked in the form of memes.
