I agree with the cute part, I, too, ship them simply because they are cute together.  
Heck, i only got to know about the southern hick thing after i got into the pairing.
 
What i don’t agree is with using in show to try to make a ship more or less relevant, i simply doesn’t work, given the nature of the show.

Aye, that’s bad, just like “Rainbow Dash is tomboyish and has a rainbow motif, she must be a lesbian” is bad. However, being southern farmers doesn’t make them less qualified candidates for incest shipping, either.
 
I’ve said before I just think they look cute together. Well, that’s not entirely true. There’s also the fact that Big Mac is known for being taciturn above all else, responding to most things with yes-or-no answers. He notably used a lot more words when under the effect of the love poison. Ergo, he’s more talkative with his romantic interest.
 
And who, of all the characters in this series, have we seen, both explicitly and implicitly, that he actually talks to? Only Applejack. He won’t even open up around Granny Smith or Apple Bloom.

It’s called nepotism, Applejack, and it’s a very shitty business practice.

My problem is for most that do make it, it’s more “oh it’s incest, isn’t it funny” or for a “southern hick” joke then any real reason, and I’m sick of it.
