The problem that led to everyone there calling you a nyx fag isn’t that they all hate you. It’s that Nyxfags are themselves a meme there. Let me explain:  
Wheter you like to hate that fanfic is irrelevant. /mlp/ gets spammed constantly by trolls who keep talking about how awesome they think it is with all kinds of retarded and fallacious bullshit reasons for why, purely to bother everyone else there. Thus, when you go into a thread and write about how much you like nyx or indeed try to stand up for her in any way, all everyone else sees is yet another troll trying to get on their nerves. This leads to KYS or GTFO replies, as these are the standard for showing you disagree on a place like /mlp/. So it wasn’t personal animosity or hatred they where expressing, they merely mistook you for a common troll due to an unfortunate coincidence.
 
Basically, the problem you have is that places like 4chan and 8kun have fundamentally different social rules and norms from what you are used to. And just like the norms and social rules you follow on twitter or facebook are different from how we talk to eachother here on derpibooru or IRL, or anywhere else people meet, so they differ between what you seem to be used to, and places like 4chan or 8kun.

There’s always somebody who needs to put somebody in their place if ya can’t take it, here’s an idea press the power button on the device you’re using. It’s that simple. You can’t change the way people act. Sometimes irl you can meet the sweetest people but that doesn’t mean they won’t be a total dick on the internet to vent frustration.

I honestly don’t see what’s so bad about 4chan. As with any platform there are the really toxic parts, but there are also a bunch of really wholesome areas too. Go check out one of the waifu threads. I frequent the AJ thread and that’s always nice and positive.

It’s one of those things where the more you think about it and look into it, the more confused and disappointed you get at life. Same thing with Reddit and Tumblr.
