Before commenting away, PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
as of this drawing date, I STILL have yet to react to any of Season 9, so until I say otherwise, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE NO SPOILERS. Thank you.
Now as the title implies, consider this a what-if. Plus, I’m not gonna lie, I STILL can’t get over the events of the Season 8 finale and how she was handled there. This is just me talking, but I’m having a hard time grasping the concept that she would get introduced MID-SEASON (I mind you) as an average filly trying to make her way through the School of Friendship, and all of a sudden, I MEAN OUT OF THE BLUE, she is revealed to be a bad guy wanting to steal all of the land’s magic and become an empress. ANOTHER MINDER, she’s a child!
Forgive me for ranting, but I’ll explain my feelings as a whole for this conundrum at a later date. Until then, this art is a reflecting of how I (kind of) wanted her to be treated, when given the chance to turn her life around for the better, to let other ponies and creatures shift into the right direction, and to let bygones be bygones and mend her past transgressions.
Of course, this could all be for naught by the Series Finale, but who knows? (For my sake, I hope that never happens.)
Anyway, I’m rambled long enough. Enjoy!

SPEEDPAINT COMING SOON
Same here.
I wouldn’t forgive a being who caused mass chaos and betrayed his friends even after supposadly reforming.
But I would totally forgive Cozy.
I won’t forgive an evil filly who tried to steal all the magic from Equestria
I never forgive toddlers
Possibly. Plus she might’ve started to feel like an outright pest to him after several weeks alone together.
Do you think he didn’t know that she was a filly and then when he saw her in Taurtrus he was a bit disappointed?
“She literally had a staff that could remove cutie marks. She didn’t need her own.”
Um, she LITERALLY said in the episode that the staff was just some random stick she found in the desert and all of the cutie mark removal was her own magic. For someone complaining about double standards, you sure are showing quite a few of your own.
She literally had a staff that could remove cutie marks. She didn’t need her own. She was basically a communist dictator. And no, the town wasn’t physically attacking her or threatening her with violance. She quite literally attacked them with her magic and Twilight had to shield them. And I’m sure freezing Twilight and Spike in that magical block and letting her fall from high above was totally safe.
And no, Cozy wasn’t getting the exact same treatment. She marely memorized some words, aced some tests (most of which barely had anything to do with actual friendship) and sweet talked her way into being Twilight’s assistent. She was never seen taking part in extracurricular activities where actual friendships formed and I seriously doupt that Discord would have turned over a new leaf had he been forced to just go to a similar school.
Chrysalis rejected Starlight the same way Starlight rejected Twilight at first. Freshly defeated, her subjects turning on her and her running away. Later if Frenemies she was shown to be streight up scared to accept friendship.
Tempest helped a tirent literally pillage the world all for a vague promise to get back a lost body part. Somewhat understandable, but still very selfish. She would have most likely not betrayed the Storm King had he not betrayed her first.
As for Stygian he was friends and allies with the pillars previously. Sure, he felt left out, but he simply could have talked to them instead of turning evil (that’s what everyone thought of him at the time). As far as everyine else knew he had firends, yet he betrayed them and Starlight still stood up for him.
As for Tirek, the same could be said for Discord. Celestia never tried reforming him in over a thousend years and even after his second defeat she only tried a while later. He was left unpunished for subsequent mess ups.
All of these villains had their second chances (except Tirek) and in Discord’s case, third and fourth chances. Some of them were deemed as hopeless beforehand, yet were still reformed by ponies. Cozy never had a chance like this. They simply locked her in Tartarus without trying to reform her, then petrified her when Discord pretty much gave her the power to exact revenge.
I say again, double standards are a plenty.
Like how you ignore that people often change with time? Both with experience and even simple biology. Cozy Glow likely hasn’t gone through puberty yet, her mind is far from fully developed. It’s crazy to just think that she is always going to be the same mentally.
And if you are going to bring up real world issues again (like your example of kids being arrested), someone like Tempest Shadow would never get away with helping to attack an entire nation just because she was promised something and now she’s sorry. Excuses like that don’t fly in the real world if you must insist on using the real world as an example.
It wa shown the with twilight without the cutie mark magic doesnt realy work, so Starlight only kept her Cutie Mark so she could before the spells needed to remove cutie marks, since we never saw her reach her end goal we have no way to know if she’d remove her own mark at the end since it woudnt be needed.
Her town turned on her and was going to attack her so she defended herself and fled. Twilight never tried to redeem her or give her the option til she realized the time loop woud never end as long as they kept fighting so dragged to the presentw ehre she was confused and horrified. she then got angry at Twilight for talking like she understood her without knowing anything about her and that her revenge agisnt twilight was because they destroyed her life. but she actualy listened when spoken too and was in clear emotiona distress the entire time. We saw the spells connect several times and saw they weent lethal, painful and cause harm yes, but not lethal. she was trying to incapacitate becuase if Twilight was dead then her revenge wouldnt be fulfilled since her entire plan was to destroy Twilight friendships and ;et her see her life crumbled and destroied like Starlighs was. She never intended to kill twilight at all so no she wasnt trying to kill her and did care if they killed ehr becuase then shed not have the revenge she wanted.
if your ecall when Discord was being reformed no one but fluttershy even wanted to try. He was labaed a villian who couldnt be redeemed but Celestia ordered them to try so they were just going to ue a spell to force it on him. Only fluttershy actually tried the normal way, the others didnt think it was possible and scoffed at the idea and even after his first time he still wasnt anyone but Fluttershys friend, the others generally kept their distace till after Tirek when he truelly regreted his actions then was actually redeemed. Litterly only flutter shy tried. You also forget Cozy went throuhg the entire Reformation prcess because she was in the School of Friendhsip, getting the exat same treatment shed get if they tried to reform her nd she remained evil despite earning everything shed learn being reformed, she ony saw it as a tool for power.
Chryalis, while if love for her to have been redeemed, was shown to be a monster, littelry scoffing at the idea and practically spitting in their face when given the chance and we saw how she viewed Friendship making it clear she’d never allow it.
Tempest litterally explained her entire reason for her behavior so we know she was jsut misguided and driven by a desire to repair her horn which was the reason she was shunned so turned her back on ponies which meant she litterally jsut needed to be shown not everyone was assholes and peple cared about more then just power and wont turn their back on her becuase shes disfigured
Stygnous, Starlight fought for him because the plan was going to be kill him, or banish him outright without ever offering him the chance or having the full story of what happened. But like i said with Discord. Cozy alread had that chance with the chool of friendhip. littelry learning everything the others would try to teach her to reform her and still remaining evil. The envirment were radically different because if Cozy was going to redeem then something of those lessons would have stuck but they didnt, al it taught her was how to better manipulate people into thinking she is a good person by acting exactly like how shes been showna dn taught and learned all abut good people and what friendship means. She had the entire time in that school to even question her action or think ot change ehr ways and she didnt take a single one of them despite being surroudned by ever single thing for redemption and still remaining evil.
Tirek i will conceed the point on somewhat because we don’t know a lot about the past regarding him or any actions since so we don’t know if redemption was attempted before or not Though Tartarus seems to be used for people who are deemed irredemable so in all likelyhood he wasnt given the chance because they already knew there was no point in trying.
Some people are just evil and they will never not be evil. Cozy showed that by the fact she spent so much time in that school learning everything and still remained evil and i love how people ignore that entire fact that she had multipe chances already and ignored them all.
Starlight seemed to have no issue keeping her cutie mark when she took the other’s and she definately had no issue attacking her former townsponies when they finally stood up to her. Not much remorse there initially. And it’s not like she immedietly stopped after seeing the ruined future and before that, she had no problem attacking Twilight and Spike with dangerous magic. I doupt she would have cared if those actions actually killed someone.
Discord at first felt no guilt for his actions no matter how many ponies he hurt, yet he was still given a chance, unlike Cozy, who was immedietly sent to Taartarus, then stoned. In fact, he was given multiple chances. With Tirek, he never betrayed him until he was betrayed himself. If Discord could be forced to try and reform why not her? And he doesn’t need to cause mass chaos to survive. Even Fluttershy managed to save him by doing random harmless things so there was no reason for him to be a villain.
Even Chrysalis was given a second chance before giving the same response Starlight initially did. Let’s not forget Tempest, who only betrayed the Storm King after he betrayed her. And thats not mentioning Stygian, whom Starlight faught for to have a second chance, and thats before knowing about his true intentions.
Cozy was never given the same chance as these former villains. No one tried to reform her, just immedietly send her to live out her life in a small cage next to Tirek, then as a statue. Now that I think about it, Tirek never got the same chance either. Double standerds are a plenty.
“Starlight didn’t show remous’ BWAHAHAHAHAHAAH
She was HORRIFIED by the ashlands, litteraly stating she never wanted that to happen or any of it. she REGRETTED what her action brought. that is remorse.
Discord has been show to litterally have no choice but to be how he is or he will litterly die and there have been numur instnatly where he has felt regret for the big actions. he is an asshole sure but he has shown remouse and he has tried to do the right thing, hes just bad at it do to what he is. I hate Discord as a character but he actually learned and tried to be good once he actually made a friend in Fluttershy and realized what that meant and was like and makes an effort to do better in hiw own way.
Maybe try not comparing to some one who has been shown to hate herself for her actions and it litterally eats her up constantly or a being thats been shown be an asshole and for his actions he was turned to stone for 1000 year and later shown to have to be the way he is and that hes never had anyone give a damn about him before.
Cozy showed nothing even close to regret or horror at nearly KILLING SIX STUDENTS, STARLIGHT AND THE MANE SIX plus untold numbers of death do the the havoc the loss of magic would have caused do to the collapse of society and an inabilty to grow food or contro wheather all the while having dozens of people who liked ehr and wanted to be her friend who she only used as tools for her mad desire for power.
Oh wait, lets not forget Starlight entire plan orginal was to help everyone becasue she saw Cutie Marks as the root of all problems for peope so while wrong she was still doing it out of a desire to help people and then when that was destroyed take revent on those who prevented her from aving people.
Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy are the only villians who never showed a shred of remouse or regret or horror at what they did, only upset they were stopped and vowing to do it again.
Starlight also refused to show remorse for her actions and so did Discord. In fact, when Discord was released he mocked the Main 6 for trying to reform him and only accepted because they had the elements pointed at him.
There is one problem with this, Chancellor Neightsayer issues and Cozy Glows issues are not even remotely the same, they cannot be compared.
Neughsayers issues was that he was Racist and, in his mind, putting everyone’s best interests forward and protecting them from a perceived threat.
Cozy Glow was pure unfiltered power hungry and she woud gain that power even if she had to hold it while standing on the ashes that used to be Equestria, which had her first plan succeeded, she would have had those ashes as most people would have died to famine or extreme weather do to how reliant Equestria is on magic.
Then when she lost and was confronted with what she did rather then show even a shred of remorse she declares she will do it again and tries to escape.
All of this after going through Twilight’s School of Friendship and learning all about how to be a good person and not be evil. All she saw such things as were tools for her to gain her power and she would sacrifice anyone, even other children, to get that power.
Her being a child is irrelevant, there are literally cases in the real world where children are tried and treated as adults because of the heniounses of their crimes. Cozy Glow crimes are trying to destroy all magic in Equestria which would have lead to mass murder of most if not all of the nation population.
The shows message is quite clearly to forgive and try to reform only those who seek it or actually feel remorse for their actions. Monsters feel no remorse for what they did and will keep doing it over and over and over till they are stopped by force.
Due forgive the bit of a rant, i know you acknowledged she can’t change, most of this was more for the rest of the comments as i didn’t want to make multiple addressing the same weak argument of “she’s a child” as if that somehow makes her actions and behavior anything but irredemabale.
Or to Twilight, which is what should’ve happened.

Indeed. If anyone can never be forgiven, it’s Discord.

Precisely!

Especially since Chancellor Neighsay is so much older then Cozy Glow and much more likely to be set in his ways. Cozy Glow hasn’t even lived 1/10th of a pony’s average lifespan.
With that in mind, if Chancellor Neighsay can change his views, who’s to say Cozy can’t?
My personal thoughts on this circle around the fact that she’s still young and still has potential (to me, at least).
There is no concrete evidence that she is a psychopath and I believe she can change if given a chance like Discord and Starlight.
I completely understand. Those things didn’t even incur to me in my initial reaction for the episodes with her in them. BUT, even with this knowledge, I can’t help but feel something about her being since Season 8. In fact, my personal thoughts about her being this way are probably why I’m inspired to start a new comic featuring her and the efforts to get her to change.
And I KNOW IT’S NOT POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE LIKE HER TO CHANGE… but, even knowing what she’s capable of, I still have loads of questions about her in general. And at this point, I feel like I’m one in a small handful of people that ACTUALLY want Cozy to turn over a new leaf, despite everyone saying that she’s irredeemable and all that.
And yes. I’ve just been doing some homework on this matter. While nothing implicates any positive outcomes for dealing with a psychopath… maybe, just maybe… there’s a way to let her see…?
Forgive me if I’m going too deep. It’s just how I feel.
It wasn’t exactly subtle, no. People who think it came “out of nowhere” pretty obviously weren’t paying attention.
