lets put it this way:

For a fan of DMC who loves the old characters, knows the story and likes it that way its pretty much a BIG let down, character wise “donte” “vorgiel” and so on feel out of place, the voice acting seems forced most of the time and pretty much as characters stand they could have been completly new characters. The combat itself its NOT that bad, it has some interesting stuff happening around, the thing is many atacks lock you on animations, 2 of the 9 weapons (ifyou count the whip as a weapon then 8) are pretty much useless the moment you get the next ones aka the moment you get the chakram things the scyte becomes useless, same for the axe the moment you get the hulk gauntlets, ebony and ivory are pretty much useless, the damage the put its unotisable and added to the auto lock on they really dont do anything for you (the auto aim “aims” what “donte” wants wich generally its the closest thing).

Now the story for most DMC fans its a BIG let down, they pretty much butchered most of the mythos and made i…how to put it…weird…its like its there but mostly on name.

in general for DMC fans this game its a 6/10
for people not caring that much about it its a 7/10~8/10 (depending on you)

Pretty much the game its not horrible, if you dont care that much about the DMC mythos and characters its a good game, if you on the other hand care a lot about the story and other things dont get near it…you will probably hate it a lot

As a casual action game fan,It’s my second favorite game in the series. The combat is alot of fun especially when you get the last melee weapon.
I much prefer platforming through the incredibly well designed environments then DMC4’s bland area backtracking.
Dante is also becomes MUCH more likable then people give him credit for.

For negatives the combat is simpler and the overall game easier, so if you’re a hardcore DMC player you may not like it.
The bosses are also a let down, though I love the Bob Barbes fight.

Overall I really liked it. It doesn’t reach DMC3’s status but I personally liked it more than 4.
