This fourth Gen has been a wild ride of freshness.
I am honestly happy to see them effectively middle-aged, otherwise people would have complained about “how they looked the same after 20 years”.
People are scared of seeing their waifus look older than them
Season 1-4 being a year makes sense, especially if you take anachronistic order into account (Hearth’s Warming Eve (S2) takes place before Winter Wrap-Up (S1) for example)
After that, each season was roughly equal to one year
Then S8 skipped ahead 9 months (non-compete clause) and they gave up trying to keep a timeline
I even remember that the season four premiere implied that it was only a year
My guess is that ponies grow slowly. If Heartswarming is once a year, then some have certainly passed.
If this is the case, why did the foals in the show barely age at all? For example, the cake twins were still babies at the end of the show (minus the epilogue) even though they appeared in Season 2. The same applies to the CMC and other school foals (at least physically).
I think every season was a year passed.
By season 8, I don’t think any of the Main 6 were in their early twenties anymore.
Rarity was pushing thirty as early as season 3-4 and the youngest of the group still acted like someone in their mid-twenties.
Granted, most of that reasoning is headcanon because the show’s careful not to explicitly mention age and keeps the characters relatively ageless because it ultimately doesn’t matter.
My thought is that their parents started their families when they where younger than them, which is kinda plausible even in real life.
Actually the age lines are inaccurate. Assuming the mane 6 were in their early 20s for the series, their parents were in their late 40s-early 50s and didn’t have age lines.
Yeah I noticed that too. I’m fine with this ship. I can see them being a couple of tough lesbians whose rivalry changed to love.
