Ages, most likely. It shouldn’t take a year or two for Aris to become a desolate ruin. I was undecided for a time, but I think I want to put my bits on the “Silverstream was born a seapony and only became a hippogriff after The Movie” theory. :3
… That last line is one good argument.
I wonder if that would make an amusing story. Evercreature exasperated while Silverstream is all like “But what if they do??!?!!”
also consider that silverstream is a total neurotic ditz who would get worried if you told her “how do you know the main 6 aren’t bombing orphanages?” without any thought to the veracity of that statement. plus we’re all arguing about how she couldn’t possibly get disgruntled by swift foot’s words, so swift foot is provoking us commenters into getting salty af. how could we blame silverstream for falling for it, if we’re falling for it?

Okay but then given how well they usually do they can afford to ‘waste’ their power on parties. Storm King side how many villains in the show have ever enjoyed more than temporary success against the ponies?
Hell, even when they should tend to their wounded, they focus on parties.

I got the impression that practically the whole populace was in Canterlot for the festival. And if anyone else where saw the ships they assumed them to be non-violent visitors.

Obviously the ponies should have ignored that and gone shoving in where they were specifically Not Wanted. Even though they didn’t know their help was even needed.
I may be thinking about this too much.
She repeatedly ordered Skystar not to tell Twilight’s coterie why they were hiding. In fact, ponies are forbidden from coming to Seaquestria:
Queen Novo: Because I am telling you if it is another shell, I am— [gasps loudly] Princess Skystar, whatta you done?! You know surface dwellers are forbidden here! Guards!
[guards grunting]
Mane Six: [gasp]
