I will admit when I first saw the cgi ,it felt kinda weird in show with primarily flash animation ,but as I absorbed the episode I found I enjoyed the effect ,made the wolves more menacing .for anyone to be angry with it seems kind of silly

“So many complaints about the CG Timberwolves, let’s see you recreate all those scenes, exactly as they are, using only 2D, and see how well you do.”

This is a poor argument. None of us (or few of us) are professional animators or artists. Of course we couldn’t do what they can do nor should we be expected to. Furthermore, professionals are held to higher standards.

But you do have to recognize that:
  1. we can see poor quality and we can constructively criticize it. This wasn’t poor at all, but most of us are saying that it seemed to be out of place.
  2. the show creators want to make the best show possible and (perhaps to a lesser but still large extent) make it so the audience still enjoys it. Whether or not we can do it is completely irrelevant.

In all honesty, the “let’s see you do better argument” is a terrible argument in just about any instance. It’s not my job or task to perform here, so my performance here is irrelevant. Your boss might only be able to manage you, and you may be able to do many things he or she can’t.

But believe that he or she is well its rights to hold you responsible for a mistake (or if he or she just wants it done differently.)

The argument is the more annoying thing than the fact that the CGI didn’t annoy you.

You may also recognize that a few commenters here applaud the desire to try different things, I being one of them. Just because we didn’t love it doesn’t mean we hated it.

    Also, grammar.

I noticed it. Dang, if they’d spent as much time on the script as they did on rendering those damn wolves…

The way I see it, nothing ventured means nothing gained. Of course, there are some things that shouldn’t be touched with a twenty-foot pole, but a little CGI for the Timberwolves was worth a shot.

I liked it overall, my only wish is that if they do it again, they try to get it to mesh better with the show, and fit in with what they are trying to convey.

It's a cartoon show!
Well Matt the decision to use felt was a brilliant decision on the part of Jayson. And it was a good call as it was a peak into the mind of Pinkie Pie.

The wolves being in the world they were looked kinda out of place in terms of everything else in the world. I will say I did like the large CGI wolf towards the end

Does anybody remember the pilot for Phineas and Ferb? That had CGI sprinkled throughout that episode, but they did away with it in the rest of the show because it felt out of place.

I’m thinking that the CGI in today’s ep was a little test to see what works. I personally liked it since it made the timberwolves more intimidating. But, it did stick out more than it should’ve, so I reckon they’ll either improve their usage of CGI in future, or may just do away with it.

It’s nice to see them experiment, though. Using stop-frame animation with felt was an awesome thing they did in Season Two, so why not try other styles in Season Three?

Nothing wrong with experimenting, either. I doubt we will see full blown CGI in the rest of S3 but maybe a couple small bits. And if people overall don’t like it, they could always revert back.

And it brings new things to the table and allows the creators to experiment in order to use these techniques better in later episodes. Considering how involves they are with the fandom, I am going to assume they’re going to go, “Well maybe we did execute the CGI wrong here, so we’ll do it better next time or cut it entirely.”

Wonder what the break period is for.

“We forgot to write the last four episodes because we spent new money into CGI. :<”

Timber wolves being cg, so that’s where all the season 3 money went into and they could only afford thirteen episodes.
